BJP leader Nazia Elahi Khan has sparked a debate with her remarks against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Muslim community during the 28th pro-Hindu activists’ conference held in Belagavi. Organised annually by BJP leader Dhananjay Jadhav, the event became a platform for Khan to launch scathing attacks on the Chief Minister and make statements about Islam.
Accusations Against CM Siddaramaiah
In her fiery address, Nazia Elahi Khan accused CM Siddaramaiah of inappropriate behaviour towards women, stating, “The Chief Minister of Karnataka behaves indecently with women. I have seen him kissing and chatting with women activists on TV. If an actress visits him, he hugs her.”
Khan further alleged that Siddaramaiah has a history of misbehaviour with female journalists, claiming to possess a list of such incidents. These allegations were made without substantial evidence, raising eyebrows and triggering widespread reactions.

Comments on Islam and Muslims
Nazia Elahi Khan’s speech also included remarks about the Muslim community. She accused Muslim men of harbouring disrespectful attitudes toward women, citing practices and behaviours that she claimed were sanctioned by their faith. Khan said, “A Muslim calls Hindus kafirs by Allah’s will. He looks at a woman in his six-year-old daughter. He beats his mother and molests women in the mosque—also by Allah’s will?”
She continued with incendiary remarks, accusing Muslims of engaging in actions like slaughtering cows after consuming their milk during Bakrid and criticising Islamic marital practices. She also accused mosques of being used to train individuals to harm Hindu women and make a love jihad trap.

Call for Hindu Solidarity and Action
Khan urged Hindus to unite against what she described as the growing threat posed by Muslims, claiming that India could face the same fate as Bangladesh if Hindus do not act now. She called upon Hindu women to take on the form of “Bhadrakali” and defend themselves against perceived threats.
“Do you want to be cut into pieces and kept in a fridge? Decide whether you want to take the form of Bhadrakali and cut the traitors,” she said, referring to gruesome incidents that have shocked the nation in the past.
Comments on Interfaith Marriages
Khan also spoke against interfaith marriages, particularly between Hindu women and Muslim men, portraying Muslim men as unworthy partners. She encouraged Muslim women to marry Hindu men, claiming they would find better support and respect in such relationships.
“I will not marry a Muslim man who wears a lungi(dhoti) and removes it everywhere. Muslim girls hate Muslim boys now. If you marry a Muslim, you wake up to find him with his mother the next day,” she said, ridiculing Muslim men and promoting divisive narratives.
Reaction to Khan’s Speech
Khan’s speech has sparked widespread condemnation from leaders, including members of the Muslim community. Many have called her remarks inflammatory and harmful to communal harmony.
Critics argue that her comments were designed to provoke tensions between communities and distract from pressing issues in the state. CM Siddaramaiah has not yet responded to the allegations, but his party, the Indian National Congress, is expected to issue a statement condemning the remarks.

The disturbing trend of cow vigilante violence in Karnataka continues to draw public ire, with a recent incident in Salkoda village in Uttara Kannada district amplifying concerns over the safety of livestock and the cultural fabric of the community. In a gruesome event that unfolded over the past weekend, a cow belonging to resident Krishnachari was brutally slaughtered, with the calf removed from its womb and discarded. The shocking act has reignited protests against cow slaughter practices in the state, following previous incidents in Chamarajpet and Nanjangud.
According to reports, Krishnachari noticed his black cow missing on January 19 after grazing in the vicinity. Upon searching for the animal, he discovered the dismembered remains of the cow scattered across a nearby field—the head and legs were found separated from the body. The incident was particularly horrific as the pregnant cow’s calf was also violently discarded after being severed from its mother, prompting a wave of outrage from the local community.
Krishnachari has since filed a formal complaint at the Honnavar police station, recounting the emotional toll of the loss. “This was my cow, which I had cared for over the last decade,” he stated in his complaint. “To find it treated in such a barbaric manner is unbearable. We always feared predators like leopards would take our cattle, but we never imagined we would face such cruelty from humans.”
Local MLA Dinkar Shetty addressed the media following his visit to the site of the slaughter. He expressed deep disappointment with the current law and order under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s government. “Since Congress took power, we have seen a rise in unrest in our community,” Shetty asserted. “This act of violence not only harms individuals but also thwarts the cultural ethos of Hindus.”
The MLA criticised the Home Minister for his recent comments regarding a previous cow slaughter incident, where he suggested that the accused might be mentally ill. “Statements like this are irresponsible and dismissive of the sentiments of the Hindu community. We demand justice for this family and a stop to such heinous acts,” Shetty emphasised.
In light of the incident, local leaders and residents have vowed to come together to financially support Krishnachari and his family during this troubling time. Many are calling for stricter enforcement of laws regarding animal welfare to prevent further incidents and to safeguard the cultural values that are being jeopardised.
