K Annamalai criticised the state police for failing to arrest the culprits in a triple murder case even after 42 days. In a tweet written in Tamil, he held the DMK government and law enforcement accountable for the delay in justice.
To condemn the inaction, the BJP has announced a protest in the Koduvai area on January 9. Tirupur District North President Senthilvel is organizing the demonstration, which is expected to draw thousands of participants, reflecting growing public discontent over the handling of the case.

Recalling his earlier tweets, Annamalai expressed shock over the brutal murder of three members of a family near Palladam in Tirupur district last November. The victims—Deivasigamani, his wife Alamelu, and their son Senthil Kumar, an employee at a private firm—were killed on the night of November 28 at their farmhouse in Semalaikaundampalayam, near Pongalur. The assailants also made off with valuables, including jewels kept for an upcoming family wedding.
The killings sent shockwaves across the region, with police suspecting someone with insider knowledge of the family’s plans. Despite forming 14 special investigation teams in response to public outrage and condemnation from Annamalai and other opposition leaders, the police have yet to apprehend the culprits. Annamalai criticized the DMK government, alleging a deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
Police noted similarities between this case and another unsolved murder in Arichalur, Erode district, where an elderly couple living alone in a farmhouse were killed for their valuables.
In the aftermath, DMK Minister M.P. Swaminathan visited the grieving family to offer condolences. During the visit, Senthil Kumar’s wife, Kavitha, expressed her anger and frustration, saying, “Your government is completely at fault, sir. You only seek publicity saying, ‘farmers, farmers.’ It’s not just our family; there are farmhouses nearby too. Tell me for sure that what happened here won’t happen again.”
The incident has intensified demands for swift justice and better security measures in the region.

Annamalai visited the home of the bereaved family in Semalaikaundampalayam to offer his condolences following the brutal murder of three family members in November.
After the visit, Annamalai shared his sentiments on the X platform, stating, “Sister Kavitha, who has tragically lost her husband and in-laws through no fault of their own, is left to care for her children alone. I have no words to console her pain. She has requested that the killers face appropriate punishment. I assured her that we will work tirelessly to ensure swift justice for the grieving family.”

K. Annamalai, in a statement on X, urged the DMK government to transfer the investigation of the brutal murder of three family members in Tirupur district to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Annamalai highlighted the lack of progress in the case, which occurred nine days earlier, despite the formation of 14 special teams by the police to apprehend the culprits. “It is disheartening that nearly ten days have passed, and the police are yet to make any arrests in this gruesome case. This has left the local residents in fear and panic,” he stated.
Expressing concern over similar unresolved murder cases in Namakkal, Chennimalai, and Palladam over the past two years, Annamalai remarked, “The public is questioning why no arrests have been made in these cases. The loss of faith in government machinery could undermine the very foundation of our democratic system.”
He acknowledged the police’s expertise but questioned whether they were being denied free rein, lacked technical resources, or faced other limitations preventing breakthroughs in such cases. “Every moment of delay provides an opportunity for the criminals to escape—this cannot be overlooked,” Annamalai cautioned.
The BJP chief emphasised the need for a broader investigation into the Palladam triple murder case, urging authorities to examine similar cases from recent years for potential links or patterns.
“This case should not be treated as an isolated incident but as part of a continuum of crimes in the region. A thorough probe into previous cases could help uncover connections and lead to a comprehensive understanding of the perpetrators’ motives and methods,” Annamalai stated.
He reiterated his appeal to the DMK government to prioritize justice and bring the culprits to book. “Our focus must be on ensuring that the criminals are brought before the long arm of the law. To achieve this goal, we strongly urge the government to transfer the case to the CBI, allowing for a free and unfettered investigation,” he added.

On January 9, BJP leaders and cadres staged a protest in Tirupur, donning T-shirts with the phrase “Who is that Sir,” a reference to an alleged individual implicated in the rape of an Anna University student. The demonstration highlighted growing concerns over law and order issues in Tamil Nadu.
The protest came amid ongoing public outrage over a gruesome crime in September 2023, when four members of a family, including two women, were brutally hacked to death in Palladam, Tirupur district. Police investigations revealed that the crime stemmed from previous enmity.
The primary accused, Venkatesh, a former car driver dismissed from service, was arrested along with his associates, Chellamuthu and Muthaiah. According to police, the trio committed the crime under the influence of alcohol after the family objected to their drinking on the property.
