On December 14, 2024, Melbourne Hindus held a massive protest rally to take the message of heinous atrocities committed on the minorities, and especially the Hindu population in Bangladesh. The protest rally was organized under the banner of ‘Australian Hindu Community’ at the Federation Square in Melbourne from 4-6 pm.

They urged the Australian Government to take steps to establish diplomatic dialogue to pressurize the Bangladesh Government to “Stop religious persecution of the Hindus in Bangladesh and release ISKON sadhu Chinmoy Prabhu” who is jailed under false accusation of sedition charges. Hindus in Melbourne participated in large numbers.

There were many spectators also joined them and peacefully listened to the speeches delivered by the active members from Melbourne. Parag Gaikwad opened his speech with the remark that Hindus in Melbourne showed courage publically for expressing deep concern over the atrocities on the Hindus in Bangladesh. He expressed deep concern over the apathy shown by the Human Rights Organisations towards these happenings. Saurabh Kumar described the way Hindus are made to suffer in Bangladesh where Hindus were mercilessly beaten in streets and the Hindu intellectuals being forced to resign from their jobs.

Taking the futuristic view of the immigrant Hindu community, Aditi Pathak urged the Hindu parents to make their kids aware of the Hindu heritage from the very early years, inculcate in them courage and empathy for the human beings. The coming generation has to become true citizens of their country of birth. Lastly Abhijit Bhide urged the Hindus in Australia to stand united and take initiative for the cause of not only the Hindus in Bangladesh but all the minorities suffering anywhere on the globe in whatever the way they can.

He appealed the Australian Government to take up the cause of Hindus in Australia with the Bangladesh Government. He informed about the representation to the international commission on Human Rights on “the Hindu Lives Matter”.
