Born in 1935, he was a brilliant student from the outset, completing his schooling and Intermediate in Vijayawada, earning a B.Sc. from Loyola College, Madras, and completing Masters in Physics, Politics, and Economics at Oxford University, UK, in 1954. Upon returning to India, he pursued a Law degree from Madras and began his legal career assisting Sri Duvvuri Narasaraju in Hyderabad before establishing his independent practice in 1961. He was expert in corporate law.
A voracious reader with a deep interest in diverse subjects, including medicine and engineering, Shri Parvata Rao was an intellectual par excellence. His dedication to his principles was evident during his legal career.
When the late Chief Minister, N. T. Rama Rao, shortlisted him for a judicial position, the then Union Law Minister, Shivashankar, demanded that he disassociate himself from the RSS. Unwavering in his beliefs, Shri Parvata Rao declined to submit such a letter, stating firmly that the RSS was not a banned organisation. He was later appointed as a judge during the Vajpayee-led NDA government.
Following his superannuation as a High Court judge, Parvata Rao ji was appointed Chairman of the State Consumer Forum. However, he resigned after two years when the Andhra Pradesh government failed to implement his recommendations for improving facilities at the district level.
Post-retirement, he dedicated his life to social service. He served as RSS Kshetra Sanghchalak and later became the President of Akhil Bharatiya Nyayavada Parishad, holding steadfast to the highest moral values throughout his life.
One anecdote exemplifies his commitment to ethics: while visiting his hometown as a judge, he insisted on paying for the breakfast offered to him, underscoring his sense of decency and fairness.
A man of extraordinary generosity, Shri Parvata Rao donated 27 of the 30 acres of land he inherited to various charitable causes, including Gowthami Seva Samithi and Gow Seva Samithi. Nearly 45 years ago, he donated land in his native village, Unguturu, along with ₹10 lakhs, to establish and support Dr. Sunkavalli Vijnana Bharati School. Ten years ago, he raised ₹1 crore to construct a new school building, and in the last 280 square yards of land he owned near the highway, he set up a centre for organic gau products.
