Thiruvananthapuram: During the middle of the night of November 17, some Sunni religious students desecrated and defiled the picture of Bharat Mata which was erected by Sangh-inspired social workers in Amabalathara Paruthikkuzhi Ammachimuku, Thiruvananthapuram district. The miscreants had reportedly come from a nearly Muslim religious centre. Poonthura Police has registered a case in this regard based on the complaints filed by RSS workers.

CCTV footages show the Sunni students coming out from the religious centre carrying biriyani packets and desecrating the picture with knives.

KP Sasikala Teacher, the state patron of Sangh-inspired Hindu Aikyavedi, reacted that the children who are brought up with degenerated and decayed culture would pose a threat to the country. The desecration of the Bharat Mata picture is shocking and of paramount significance. It is difficult to ascertain whether the incident rouses fear or anxiety or grief. There is no meaning in blaming the students. We have to look into the circumstances which led them to do these sorts of sinister activities. It is high time the pros and cons of religious teachings are discussed seriously.

Teacher added that the miscreants are dagger-wielding criminals.  The people who sent the youths and those who groomed them (youths) should be probed into  properly. We do not need any institutions which teach the youths to do the taboos. What won’t the youths who are brought up with this sort of mindset do to the  nation and the followers of other religions ? All should sit together to set the syllabus of all religious studies.

Hindu Aikyavedi state president RV Babu said that the incident of desecrating Bharat Mata picture is of utmost seriousness. It should be found out if anti-national sentiments are imparted to the children in madrasas. Culprits should be brought before the law. This kind of dangerous religious study centres should be closed forever.
