More central paramilitary forces have arrived to assist in bringing peace to Manipur as the unrest there keeps getting worse. According to an official, eight additional Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) companies landed in Imphal, the state capital, on November 19. This comes after 11 CAPF businesses arrived on November 18. Four companies from each of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Border Security Force (BSF) will be among the newly deployed forces stationed in high-risk and sensitive regions throughout the state in order to uphold law and order.
Security personnel conducted area domination and search operations in the vulnerable and outlying areas of the hill and valley districts. We have made sure that 51 and 355 cars carrying necessities can move via NH-37 and NH-2. To guarantee the free and secure transit of the vehicles, stringent security procedures are implemented in all susceptible areas, and a security escort is supplied in hazardous areas. The police arrested no one in relation to infractions in any of the 104 Nakas/Checkpoints that were set up in various districts of Manipur, both in the valley and the hills.
Meanwhile, Senior Manipur Congress leaders have demanded that former Union Minister P Chidambaram face urgent disciplinary action for his recent post on the social networking site X on the prevailing turmoil in Manipur. Members of the Congress Legislature Party, members of the CWC, and former MPCC presidents unanimously denounced Chidambaram’s job as “highly inappropriate” in light of the delicate circumstances in the state during an emergency meeting in Babupara, Imphal.
In a letter to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, the leaders called for swift action and the removal of the contentious job. Given the current condition of public sorrow and the elevated tensions in Manipur, they emphasised that Chidambaram’s social media statement’s language and feelings were especially troubling. “Congress Party always stands for the unity and territorial integrity of the State of Manipur,” the letter said, emphasising the party’s stance on the matter. Senior party leaders, including former party ministers and PCC members, attended the 9:00 am meeting, which demonstrated the urgency of the issue among the state’s Congress leadership.
