All six abducted persons, including 3 women and 3 minors, were killed by terrorists in Manipur. Security forces have recovered 3 more bodies in the Barak river in the wee hours of November 16. Local media reports that all 6 dead bodies of 3 women and 3 children were brought to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) in Assam for postmortem. Earlier on November 15 evening, three bodies were found close to the Jiri and Barak river confluence along the Manipur-Assam boundary. These remains are believed to be those of Kidnapped persons by suspected Kuki terrorists. Six people had been reportedly Kidnapped in the Jiribam area, where the bodies were discovered approximately 16 kilometres from Borobekra.

Although the deceased’s identities have not yet been verified, investigators think they might be those of the people who went missing. Assam Rifles recovered the dead, which are now being identified and autopsied at Silchar Medical College. To confirm the names and identify the cause of death, investigations are still underway.

The last sighting of the missing was at a refugee camp after the terrorist attack on the Borobekra police station was foiled. Following a fight between terrorists and security authorities in Borobekra, six people—three women and three children—went missing.

The incident took place in Jiribam district’s Borobekra region on November 11, 2024, and resulted in the hostage-taking of six people, including an eight-month-old child.

It should be mentioned that heavy-armed terrorists opened fire on the Borobekra Police Station and the CRPF post in Jakuradhor during the about 3 pm attack on November 11. Yurembam Rani (60), Telem Thoibi Devi (31), her daughter Telem Thajamanbi Devi (8), Laishram Heitombi Devi (35), and her two sons, Laishram Chingkheinganba Singh (2.5 years) and Laishram Lamnganba Singh (10 months), were kidnapped by suspected Kuki terrorists from the refugee camp. Two elderly persons were killed in the gunfight between Kuki terrorists and security forces. 10 Kuki terrorists were also killed in the gunfight. Violence erupted in the Jiribam district of Manipur bordering Assam last week after suspected Kuki terrorists started a series of attacks on security installations and civilians. Many houses and shops belonging to Meitei people were set ablaze by the terrorists. At Least eight civilians were killed by Kuki terrorists in Jiribam in the last 7 days. The border district has witnessed deadly violence since May this year. The Union Government deployed Twenty additional CAPF companies in the district since the eruption of the latest spat of violence.
