BENGALURU: A disturbing case has emerged in Bengaluru where a woman has lodged a complaint against her husband, alleging a series of abusive behaviours that culminated in a shocking plot to harm their child for financial gain. The complainant, identified as Vanajakshi, has accused her husband, Saddam Hussain, also known as Ishwar, of harassment, threat to her life, and attempts to convert her to Islam forcibly.
In a troubling complaint filed on October 29 with the Bangalore City Police Commissioner, Vanajakshi has accused her husband, Saddam Hussain, of manipulative and coercive behaviour. Initially presenting himself as a loving partner when they met in 2020 while working at Blue Dart, Hussain’s actions quickly turned controlling after their marriage, conducted according to Hindu customs in the same year. She recounted a harrowing experience in which he insisted on holding a second marriage ceremony as per Muslim traditions in November 2020. He, along with his accomplice Nayaz, forcibly took her to an undisclosed location in a horrific manner, where they attempted to coerce her into converting to Islam by pressuring her to sign documents for a Muslim marriage certificate and to change her name to Sadia Kausar against her will.
Vanajakshi further detailed the abuse she endured during her pregnancy. She alleged that Saddam Hussain repeatedly assaulted her and threatened her, creating an atmosphere of fear and coercion. On July 15, 2021, she gave birth to a baby boy, whom they named Karan Raj. However, Vanajakshi’s troubles did not end there. She alleges that Hussain had sinister intentions regarding their son, expressing a desire to experiment on him with practices he learned from certain individuals in Kerala, specifically black magic, which he believes would grant him greater powers.
The situation escalated dramatically on October 13, when Vanajakshi alleges that Hussain and Nayaz attempted to abduct her son near their residence in Tumkur. Fortunately, with the assistance of neighbours, she was able to escape with her child, but the incident left her in a state of fear and compelled her to go into hiding.
Despite her repeated attempts to report these incidents to the KR Puram police station, Vanajakshi claims that her complaints were not taken seriously, leading her to escalate her plea for justice to the Police Commissioner. In her appeal, she called for immediate action against Saddam Hussain and Nayaz, emphasizing the urgent need for police protection for her and her child.
“I fear for my life and my child’s safety,” Vanajakshi expressed in her complaint. “If anything happens to us, Saddam Hussain alias Ishwar will be responsible.” The allegations made by Vanajakshi highlight several serious issues, including domestic violence, forced conversion, and the disturbing practice of black magic.
These claims reflect a concerning pattern often associated with “love jihad,” where Muslim men target Hindu women, cohabitate for a period, have children, and then subject these women to harassment, ultimately coercing them to either leave their husbands or live in a state of subjugation.
Numerous cases have been reported across the country involving Muslim individuals who impersonate Hindus to deceive Hindu women. These cases often involve marriage, followed by religious conversion—either before or after the wedding—and can escalate to domestic violence or even the killing of the women.
Vishva Hindu Parishad Joint General Secretary Dr Surendra Jain released the list of more than 400 incidents of Love Jihad cases on December 1, 2022, and called this the most heinous, cruel and inhuman forms of Jihad.

The Church of Kerala and Karnataka describes 10,000 Christian girls as victims of love jihad, while 2000 girls have gone missing in Hyderabad, about which the High Court is seeking an explanation from the state government. Peace-loving states like Himachal and Ladakh are also moving towards anger after being troubled by love jihad. In Kerala, the Church has also alleged that their girls are being trapped and sent to Syria and Afghanistan.
In 2020, VHP released a list of 170 Love Jihad cases.
