HYDERABAD: Expressing rising concerns within the Hindu community, a state delegation from the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) Telangana, met Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand urging swift action following a series of temple attacks in Hyderabad. The delegation stressed the need for an impartial investigation, and they also demanded measures against alleged illegal foreign infiltrators reportedly residing in the city.

“The recent increase in attacks on temples across Hyderabad is deeply distressing and has shaken the Hindu community,” stated Dr Shashidhar, national spokesperson of the VHP, who was part of the delegation. “From the destruction of idols at Bhulakshmi temple, Uppuguda temple, Mailardevapalli temple, Exhibition Ground Matha Pandal, Lower Tank Bund Temple, Mutyalamma Temple, and Amberpet Matha temple, it is evident that fanatical forces have targeted these temples in a planned and deliberate manner. We suspect there are terrorist elements behind these attacks, and this should be thoroughly investigated,” Dr Shashidhar added.

Questioning the narrative that has painted these acts as random or the work of mentally unstable individuals, VHP leaders urged authorities to “address the roots of the fanatical madness wherever it grows.” They stressed the need for strong legal action, calling for attention to what they believe is “fanatical madness” aimed at disturbing religious harmony.

Locals in several areas have reported unusual activities, including “the presence of outsiders in madrasas and mosques across Bhagyanagar,” the delegation noted. Citing this, the VHP urged “an immediate, full investigation and the arrest of suspected individuals, along with CCTV installation in all sensitive locations in and around the city, particularly at Mosque and madrasas.”

Addressing the issue of illegal residents, the VHP underscored the need for action against Rohingya and Bangladeshi Muslims allegedly residing unlawfully in Hyderabad. “Their illegal presence is a matter of security, and immediate action should be taken to arrest and proceed with legal steps,” the statement emphasized.

The VHP further expressed fears of a broader conspiracy, speculating that a “Hyderabad-based extremist party” could be working to incite communal tensions in anticipation of the Maharashtra state election and discussions surrounding the Waqf Board Amendment Bill. “The general public suspects that these attacks on Hindu society and temples are part of a calculated strategy to disrupt peace,” they stated.

The delegation, which included VHP State President B. Narsimha Murthy, Mathamandir Prabandh Parishad National President M. Ramaraju, VHP National Spokesperson Dr. Ravinuthala Shashidhar, State Vice President Dr. Sunitha Rammohan Reddy, and Bajrang Dal State Convenor U. Shivaramulu, emphasized, “We want immediate steps to secure peace, including establishing picket points near temples and strengthening legal measures to curb communal tension.”

The VHP leaders urged the Hyderabad Police to “act swiftly and decisively in protecting the Hindu temples and ensuring the city’s safety,” affirming that the Hindu community would continue to monitor the developments closely and push for justice.
