A shocking and perverted crime has surfaced in the small town of Mulabagilu, Kolar district in Karnataka where a 50-year-old woman, Sushilamma, was brutally murdered and sexually violated by an auto driver. The incident has not only shaken the local community but also raised concerns about safety, especially for women in the region.

The heinous act took place in Hydari Nagar, a deserted area in Mulabagilu town, where the accused, Seyyed Suhail, an auto driver, allegedly murdered Sushilamma, a resident of Palligarapalya. After killing her, Suhail shockingly admitted to raping her lifeless body twice, a fact that has left the town reeling in horror. The details of the crime were uncovered during police investigations following the disappearance of the victim.

According to the police, Sushilamma had gone missing, prompting a search operation. The woman’s lifeless body was eventually discovered in a secluded spot in Hydari Nagar. The police launched an immediate investigation into her murder. Upon reviewing surveillance footage, they found evidence linking Suhail to the crime — the CCTV cameras captured him transporting Sushilamma in his auto. When questioned, Suhail confessed to the crime, admitting that he had first murdered her on September 24, before committing the unthinkable act of necrophilia.

Local residents have described Suhail as mentally disturbed, though no formal psychiatric evaluation has yet confirmed this claim. His behavior, as revealed during the investigation, showcases the depths of depravity he descended into. The authorities arrested Suhail soon after his confession and are continuing to interrogate him to gather further details surrounding the crime.

This gruesome incident has deeply affected the residents of Mulabagilu. The horrific nature of the crime has instilled fear among the local women, especially those who rely on auto-rickshaws for transportation. The brutal manner in which Sushilamma was murdered, combined with the subsequent violation of her body, has sparked outrage and calls for greater safety measures for women traveling alone in the town.

Many residents, particularly women, have expressed fear about using auto-rickshaws, a common mode of transport in the area. The case has prompted discussions about the need for better regulation of public transport services and stringent background checks for drivers.

The case is being handled by the Mulabagilu Nagar Police Station. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to determine if Suhail acted alone or if others were involved. Additionally, there are concerns regarding Suhail’s mental health, with locals claiming that he may be mentally unstable. The police have not ruled out this possibility and are awaiting formal psychological evaluations.

Superintendent of Police in Kolar, B Nikhil and other senior officers, have assured the public that justice will be served, and strict action will be taken against Suhail. They are also looking into possible lapses in the system that allowed such a criminal to roam freely and carry out such an atrocious crime.

The shocking nature of this crime has intensified the conversation around women’s safety in Kolar and other rural regions of Karnataka. Law enforcement officials are now under pressure to ensure stricter policing, especially in deserted areas. In response, local authorities have promised to ramp up patrolling in remote parts of the district and have urged citizens to be cautious when using public transport, particularly during late hours.

Women’s rights organizations and safety advocates have called for swift action to prevent such incidents in the future, emphasizing the importance of reliable, safe public transport. Some have demanded mandatory background checks for auto drivers and other transport operators, especially those operating in rural and semi-urban areas.

The residents of Mulabagilu and surrounding areas are still coming to terms with the brutality of the incident, with many expressing disbelief that such a horrendous act could happen in their small, tight-knit community.

The murder and post-mortem violation of Sushilamma by an auto driver in Kolar have left the town in a state of shock and fear. The disturbing details of the crime have not only raised alarm bells about public safety but also highlighted the need for psychological evaluations and stringent background checks for public transport drivers. As the investigation unfolds, the community is calling for justice and seeking measures to prevent such gruesome incidents from recurring in the future.
