BJP scripts new political history in Haryana

The BJP has achieved a historic victory in Haryana, becoming the first party to win three consecutive assembly terms in the state. This success is attributed to strategic leadership, support from various communities, and the Congress party's inability to effectively challenge the BJP's dominance

The historic win of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in Haryana is a big development. The BJP also become the first party in Haryana, which has won three back-to-back terms. Like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Haryana became the fourth State for the BJP, in which the BJP won three consecutive Assembly elections.

One of the main reasons for winning the BJP in all these States is that the primary opponent against the BJP was the Congress party. In Haryana, if any regional party like the Indian National Lok Dal or Jan Nayak Janata Party (JJP) were in direct contest, the BJP would have to take more pain to defeat these regional outfits. The Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi pointed out that the Congress party has to change its strategy. She wants to say that the Congress party alone is not strong enough to challenge the BJP and to share seats with other allies as per State specific.

The BJP experiment of putting a new Chief Minister has paid dividends. Saini’s leadership had given the Other Backward Classes (OBC) new enthusiasm. Besides OBCs, the Scheduled Castes (SC) also came in support of the BJP. Thus, the BJP overcome its two-term anti-incumbency with more vote share and seats in Haryana than in its previous two Assembly elections in 2014 and 2019.

The psychologists and the political experts who were predicting and analyzing the Haryana Assembly election were deliberately ignoring the fact that in the 2019 Assembly election. However, the BJP vote share had reduced by 7 seats,,, but its vote share had increased.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, the BJP’s performance in Haryana needed to be more satisfactory, and even in that condition, the BJP established a lead on 44 Assembly seats. That was the enough indication that the BJP would shock the pollsters who would jump to conclusion without analysing all possibilities. The JP won the Haryana Assembly election not only by chance or due to the division of votes, but the party has virtually increased its footprints in this Assembly election. The JP has increased its footprint in Haryana election-by-election by as

The BJP easiest political prey is the Congress party, as demonstrated by this Assembly election. The JP had started its political journey of winning elections by defeating the Congress party in the States of Rajasthan, joint Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and NCT of Delhi.

Any new political outfit also treats the Congress party as its softest prey. Even the Aam Aadmi Party had defeated and decimated the Congress party in NCT of Delhi. The AP also takes space for the Congress party in States like Gujarat and Punjab. Multiple BJP State governments are looking for repetition for a third consecutive term in the coming time.

There are very few State governments in India where the same party continuously rules the State for a third consecutive term. The states include Gujarat, Goa, West Bengal, Haryana and NCT of Delhi. In G Gujarat, the BJP is on its way to breaking the record of the Communist Party’s longest regime in West Bengal.
