Calling it an act of terrorism, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh denounced the use of drones to dump bombs on security forces and civilian populations.

CM Singh denounced the strikes as barbaric in a message posted on his X handle. He stated, “I strongly condemn such cowardly acts.” Dropping bombs on civilian populations and security forces using drones is an act of terrorism. The Manipur State administration treats such unprovoked attacks seriously and will take the appropriate action to combat acts of terrorism against the local indigenous community. Manipur’s people will stand together against hatred, divisiveness, and secession, and we reject all forms of violence.”

He gave his word that the appropriate measures would be taken to stop this kind of terrorism against the native population. CM N Biren Singh also urged Manipur’s citizens to band together in the face of hatred, strife, and separatism. He condemned all forms of violence. In the middle of the already volatile State of Manipur, two explosives that were purportedly dropped by drones detonated in the Senjam Chirang Maning area of the State on September 2.

According to reports, the attack happened around 6:20 pm and injured Watham Sanatombi Devi, a 23-year-old Senjam Chirang Maning Leikai resident and W Gambhi’s daughter. The attack has sparked grave worries about the growing prevalence of drone use in the area for violent crimes. In order to determine who is at fault and to evaluate the security ramifications of this concerning development, authorities are looking into the situation.

Earlier on September 1, in a startling uptick in violence, Kuki terrorists launched several rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) from sophisticated drones in an unprecedented drone attack in the Koutruk neighbourhood of Imphal West district. This is a risky new stage in the continuing violence as it is the first time drones have been used to deliver explosives against security forces and civilians in Manipur. The attack involved the deployment of cutting-edge drone technology to target both police enforcement and locals, and Manipur Police regarded it as a significant escalation.

Drone bombing is a common tactic used in international conflict and suggests the presence of highly skilled personnel, sometimes assisted by outside technical experts. One person, Ngangbam Surbala, 31, has already lost his life as a result of the drone strike; he died from gunshot wounds received during the assault. Her kid, who is eight years old, was also hurt; she had an arm wound. As the altercation progressed, three additional civilians and two police officers also sustained injuries.
