Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has received death threats from Sikh extremist groups ahead of the release of her next film ‘Emergency’, in which she plays the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

In one of the videos on social media, Vicky Thomas Singh, a Christian turned Nihang Sikh, gives a veiled mention of the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi – who Ranaut plays in the movie.

Kangana Ranaut has asked for help from police after receiving death threats on social media, days before the release of her upcoming film Emergency. The political film is set to release on September 6.

In the viral video a person can be seen threatening Kangana says, “If in the movie he (slain Khalistani extremist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale) is portrayed as a terrorist, remember what happened to the person (Indira Gandhi) whose movie you are doing? Who were Satwant Singh and Beant Singh? We will offer our head to Santji, and those who can offer head can also chop it off,” the man said in the video.

Satwant Singh and Beant Singh were the two bodyguards of Indira Gandhi, who assassinated her on October 31, 1984.

“If you release this movie, Sardars will beat you with slippers. I have faith in my country. I am a proud Indian, and if I see you anywhere in my country, especially in Maharashtra, we, along with our Hindu, Christian, and Muslim brothers, will welcome you with slippers,” the man says

Kangana shared the video on X and tagged the police departments of Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Punjab and formally requesting their immediate investigation into the matter.
The video has generated widespread concern among the netizens and fans, with numerous users expressing their apprehension for Kangana’s safety. Ajaz Khan, big boss fame and actor turned politician can also been in the video.

In another video, which Vicky Thomas Singh has posted on his Instagram he can be seen using foul language against the director, producer and actors of the ‘Emergency’ movie. He further threated the actor who played the role of Bhindrawale and warned him to be ready to face the consequences.

Several Sikh organisations have called for the banning of the movie, which will release on September 6, claiming that it portrayed the Sikh community in a bad light. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee said that Bhindranwale has been declared a community martyr, and has demanded to ban the film.

Emergency is a film directed by Kangana Ranaut, set during India’s 1975 Emergency. It features a prominent cast including Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhary, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik. Kangana Ranaut stars as Indira Gandhi. The film delves into the tumultuous events of that era.
