As the Men’s Javelin final unfolded under the dazzling Parisian lights, the world watched in collective admiration as Neeraj Chopra qualified for the final stage in spectacular fashion. His initial throw—a massive 89.34 meters in Group B of the qualifications, held on Tuesday—served as an unequivocal statement of the champion’s intent.

Neeraj Chopra came up  with best throw of the season of 89.45m to win the silver medal. It was Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem who set a new Olympic record of 92.97m. Nadeem broke the earlier Olympic record of 90.57 – set in 2008 Beijing Olympics by Norway’s Andreas Thorkildsen.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X to laud Neeraj Chopra for winning the silver medal in men’s javelin throw competition.

Neeraj Chopra is excellence personified! Time and again he’s shown his brilliance. India is elated that he comes back with yet another Olympic success. Congratulations to him on winning the Silver. He will continue to motivate countless upcoming athletes to pursue their dreams… pic.twitter.com/XIjfeDDSeb

Joining Chopra in the final showdown, Nadeem, known for his Commonwealth Games feat where he broke the magical 90-meter mark in 2022, qualified with a season’s best of 86.59 meters. The stage was set for these arch-rivals to engage in a thrilling battle for Olympic supremacy. The final began in dramatic fashion, with both athletes’ first attempts ending in fouls.

The tension mounted as each competitor fought for every centimeter, fueling the crowd’s nerves. But it was Chopra who surged ahead, crafting Olympic history with a record-breaking throw of 92.97 meters in his second attempt. This monumental feat, surpassing his previous Olympic record, etched his name anew in the Olympian echelons as a man who consistently redefines what is possible.

Chopra’s second attempt proved to be an uplifting improvement from the initial foul, registering 89.45 meters and further solidifying his lead. The third throw ended in a foul, yet it mattered little in light of his unprecedented achievement.
