Assam’s Chief Minister (CM) and co-in-charge of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand, Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday, August 1 visited Gaybathan village of Pakud district and interacted with the villagers. Sarma accompanied with other leaders of the BJP reached the Gaybathan village and took stock of the situation while assuring all possible legal and financial help to the victims.

The BJP stalwart after interacting with the villagers alleged that according to the law, the land of tribal cannot be transferred here but two Bangladeshi infiltrators forcibly captured the land. The court however instructed the administration to hand over the land to the tribal family by removing the forceful occupations of both the aggressor but the administrations did not do anything.

“And when both Dandu and Parmeshwar Hembram tried building a house in their own land then Prafull Miyan and others from his community attacked the former, leading to grave injuries to them. The said land is still not under the possession of the tribal members despite the court ruled them in their favor,” added Sarma

He further remarked that “If this will happen only then what is the obligation of the tribal CM? Are you a tribal only at the time of securing votes only and not at the time of providing them with their rights? added Sharma while emphasizing that illegal infiltration is not an issue anymore but a reality.

We are pained by seeing this, our party will provide Rs One Lakh each to the victims to pursue the legal battle ahead and for their treatment, we will bring out directives from the court and will force the administration to handover the land to both Dandu and Parmeshwar”.

Sarma expresses disappointment over not allowed to visit Gopinathpur

I am a CM of a State and I will never stop the CM of Jharkhand to visit any place in my State if he arrived for a visit, but I have been told not to visit Gopinathpur as infiltrators could create a ruckus. If a chief Minister of a state couldn’t visit a place in its own country due to infiltrators, then one can imagine the severity of the situation in Jharkhand, said further the Assam’s CM

pic.twitter.com/5GscSoA85h

Though I don’t want to go there forcibly as I am holding a constitutional post and abided by the law to follow the directives of the government but I will come back to visit Gopinathpur for sure, I will request the government to do whatever they need to, he concluded.

Gaybathan and Gopinathpur incident of Pakud

It must be noted that an altercation broke out between the two communities in Gaybathan after one of the group launched an assault on the local tribal people over a dispute linked to a piece of land on Wednesday, July 18.

The incident unfolded in the Gaybathan Panchayat limits under the jurisdiction of Maheshpur police station limits of Pakud district leading to serious injuries to a number of people. On July 19 a total of 18 people of both the groups have been named in the FIRs registered by the police pertaining to the clash.

The confrontation between the groups in Gaybathan on Wednesday triggered a tug of over between the leaders of the opposition BJP and the ruling alliance over Bangladeshi infiltrators.

Notably, the incident of Gaybathan follows back to back scuffles of communal nature unfolded in Pakud, a bordering district of Santhal division of Jharkhand. This includes the scuffle broke out between the communities in Gopinathpur village adjoining West Bengal where an enraged mob from neighboring Krishto nagar police station limits of West Bengal launched an attack on the residents of Gopinathpur in Jharkhand by crossing a small canal that separates the two states.

The altercation broke out on the occasion of Bakrid after a man allegedly slaughtered a cow progeny on a piece of land belonging to the other community on June 17. Soon after the initial confrontation an enraged mob launched an attack on the residents leading to vandalism and stone pelting. Later on a BJP delegation also visited the Gopinathpur village and trained guns at the incumbent government on the law and order front.
