Amidst the ongoing tussle between the ruling coalition of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) led alliance and opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the issue of illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators, a fresh row has erupted in the poll bound state of Jharkhand.

According to the details highlighted by the opposition leaders, a number of individuals who have been allotted the public ration distribution shops by the food public distribution and consumer affairs department of the State have made false appearances as Scheduled Caste (SC).

Highlighting a number of such allotments made, the BJP leaders are now terming it an attempt to usurp the rights of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes to provide unlawful benefits to the members of a particular class.

Sharing the details of a few such allotments on X, Amar Kumar Bauri, the Leader of Opposition in the State assembly said that “See how the JMM-Congress-RJD government is openly usurping the rights of Dalits in Jharkhand”.

“The caste of the Muslim families to whom the shops have been allotted has been stated as SC i.e. Scheduled Caste. To strengthen its vote bank and include Bangladeshi in the financial system, the JMM-Congress-RJD government is strangling the Schedule Caste,” added Bauri.

In the details shared by Bauri it appears that one of the allotment of a public distribution shop has been made to MD Mojahir Shaikh of Sarfarazganj village under Udhwa block of Shibganj district whose caste has been stated as SC. In another similar case a public distribution shop has been allotted to Kalu Momin, a resident of Pranpur village of same block whose caste has also been stated as SC while in another case the caste column of a Self Help Group has been too stated as SC.

However Bauri’s allegations on X prompted a quick reply from the Deputy Commissioner of Sahibganj who informed that instructions have been passed to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

I have directed the concerned officer to conduct a thorough investigation and take necessary actions. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. @amarbauri

Later on Bauri in a separate post remarked that while a few of the highlighted ration cards have been cancelled, an FIR should be registered in the case and legal action should be taken. He further demanded that it is necessary to expose the entire syndicate as to how the rights of Scheduled Castes are being usurped in the economic system and given to a particular class and Bangladeshis infiltrators in an organised manner.

Bauri sentiments on the issue was echoed by another senior leader of the party, Babu Lal Marandi who said that “First Bangladeshi infiltrators are illegally settled in Sahibganj, then with the cooperation of the State government, the rights of Dalits are violated by including Muslim families in SC in allotment of public ration distribution shops”.

“The coalition government of JMM and Congress which has forced the people of the State to beg for their rights, is still not stopping now who knows whose rights are left to be snatched,” added Marandi further.

Fake certificates to settle illegal infiltrators

Notably, the row over false entries while distributing public distribution ration shops in Jharkhand has erupted at a time when Uttar Pradesh police have busted a gang involved in producing fake birth certificates for illegal Rohingiyas and Bangladeshi infiltrators in Salon block of Rae Bareli.

The incident came to light after the police arrested Zeeshan who indulged in producing thousands of such counterfeit birth certificates in Palahi and Nooruddinpur villages of Rae Bareli.

According to the reports, Zeeshan who works as an operator at the Jan Suvidha Kendra produced over 19000 fake birth certificates by using ID of Vijay Yadav, the Village Development Officer who alleged to be a crime partner of Zeeshan.

During the course of interrogation, Zeeshan revealed that he is connected to a larger network spanning across separate cities of the State such as Unnao, Kanpur, Prayagraj and Lucknow through which lakhs of such certificates have already been produced to facilitate the settlements of illegal infiltrators.

It is worth mentioning here that this is not the only time that news pertaining to issuing of such fake certificates with an aim to facilitate settlement of Bangladeshis and Rohingya infiltrators have come to the fore and such incidents have been keep coming to light from separate corner of the country.
