On the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima July 21, a Guru Poojan program was organised at the Sanskar Bharati ‘Kala Sankul’, an emerging cultural art center.

Addressing the gathering, Abhijeet Gokhale, Akhil Bhartiya Sangathan Mantri of Sanskar Bharti performed the Nataraja Poojan and explained the significance of Guru Poojan. He emphasised that hard work, pure conduct, and dedication are the three essential elements in the guru-shishya (teacher-student) tradition, which helps in acquiring power, discipline, and knowledge.

He highlighted the importance of a guru in understanding the essence of art. “In the field of art, it is crucial to cultivate the guru-shishya tradition across all disciplines, as continuous guidance from a guru is essential for the perseverance of an artist”, he said.

Explaining the significance of Nataraja Poojan, he stated that the journey from sadhana to srijan (spiritual practice to creation) embodies the true essence of Guru Poojan. He shared the benefits of Guru Poojan, citing several successful examples, including Acharya Chanakya and Chandragupta Maurya, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Sant Tukaram, and Sant Ramdas. He discussed how dedication and an indomitable will to work is crucial during the practice phase.

He further said that, “the guidance of a guru helps an artist to stay active and persistent, as it is the guru who inculcates the habit of sadhana”. He urged everyone to understand the depth of their relationship with their guru and see how it fosters the growth of both knowledge and skill.

Prabhat Kumar, President, Sanskar Bharati, Delhi, Dharmashila Gupta, Rajya Sabha MP from Darbhanga, Bihar, Subodh Sharma, Akhil Bhartiya Sah-Koshasdhyaksh and many other dignitaries along with several artists were present on the occasion.
