Sikkim: In a significant political development Sikkim became  ero opposition  as the lone SDF MLA joined the ruling SKM on July 10. The Syari Constituency MLA, Tenzing Norbu Lamtha met CM Prem Singh Tamang at his official residence in Mintokgang. After meeting the CM the lone SDM MLA joins the ruling party and the hill state assembly becomes opposition less.

During the session, CM Tamang announced that Lamtha has officially joined the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), leaving his sole MLA position in the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) party. This strategic move aims to bolster development efforts in the constituency.

The MLA discussed vital development issue regarding his constituency with the CM and extended his support to the SKM government.

CM Tamang praised Lamtha for raising significant and commendable concerns aimed at improving the area’s conditions. The CM said that the government will extend full support to Lamtha for the development of his constituency.

“Our government welcomes MLA Lamtha to the ruling party for the development of 23-Syari constituency. I assure  him of the comprehensive and quick development of the area and its residence by the state government.’said CM Tamang.

In the recently held assembly election, Lamtha, who narrowly won the Syari seat by a margin of just 1,314 votes, had stated his intentions to consult with the public of Syari before deciding his future political moves. The ruling SKM won 30 out of 31 seats in the election held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha Election 2024.

This development signifies a strengthening of the SKM party and promises enhanced focus on the growth and welfare of the Syari Constituency under the unified leadership of CM Tamang and MLA Lamtha.
