A Maoist couple associated with the dreaded outfit, Communist Party of India (Maoist) for around 9 years have turned themselves before the authorities and surrender, said police on Friday, June 14.

The Maoist cadres identified as Madakam Dhula alias Dhula and his wife Thikka Sushmita alias Chaithe turned themselves before the Karimnagar police in Telangana and surrendered citing disappointment with the Maoist ideology.

The surrender took place before Karimnagar commissioner of police, Abhishek Mohanty who informed that the surrendered Maoists were inspired by the state government surrender and rehabilitation policy. The couple were carrying a collective bounty of Rs 4 lakh on their head as announced by the state government.

“A Maoist couple surrendered today, they had joined the Maoist outfit as they were attracted to it, however they found it difficult now, they assessed that the Maoist movement is weakening and mainstream society would be best suited for them,” informed Mohanty.

Dhula, a resident of insurgency-hit Sukma district of Chhattisgarh tied knot with Sushmita who hails from Hasanparthy village of Hanmakonda district in Telangana in the year 2020, around five years after joining the Maoist group. Though the couple soon found it difficult to take forward their lives in the Maoist group and hence surrendered.

Notably a surge has been noticed in the surrender of the cadres of the outlawed outfit in recent years who have parted ways with the outlaws citing disagreement with the latter’s ideology.

He had been earlier shelved by the Maoists for his anti-outfit works. As of now the police have initiated an inquiry into the matter and are probing the incident from all possible angles.

Heera Yadav was associated with the Naxal outfit in the past, he has been killed now we are investigating the matter that whether it’s an act committed by the Maoists or some other persons, investigation is being conducted on different aspects we will soon arrest the people involved in the act, said an official familiar with the development.
