In a shocking incident reported from Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand, a youth along with his accomplice have been allegedly assaulted by a mob near Badam area under Badkagaon police station limits on Saturday, May 18.

The said incident unfolded when the victim Diwakar Nayak who hails from the Dalit community was returning from a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bike rally when he was stopped and then allegedly assaulted by a mob led by Nasseb, Zeeshan and Monty Khan.

Later on, the victim youth Diwakar filed a police complaint into the matter in which he stated that his bike was forcibly stopped by the prime accused who later along with a group of unidentified persons started abusing and hurled casteist slur on him.

He further claimed that he along with his friend was also attacked with iron pipes leading to injuries on the formers neck and face, the mob also kicked and punched the victims.

According to the media reports, the Jharkhand police after lodging an FIR into the matter have arrested all the three main accused in the case while 30-40 unidentified people have also been booked for assaulting the victims.

Meanwhile the other side has been also preparing to lodge a complaint in the case citing that objectionable slogans were raised near the Badkagaon Mosque which led to a tense atmosphere. As of now the matter is being investigated by the police.

Earlier while sharing the complaint of the victim on social media platform X, the former Chief Minister of the State, Babu Lal Marandi has demanded strict action against the perpetrators of the assault.

Taking to the X the BJP state unit president wrote that “due to the appeasement of the Congress-JMM government, the morale of such anti-Dalit, anti-Sanatan elements is high across the State including Hazaribagh. Arrest the culprits immediately and take strict action against them”.
