The body of a BJP worker, missing since the night of May 15, was discovered on May 16 in West Bengal’s East Burdwan district, stirring fresh controversy. Local BJP leaders allege that TMC workers are responsible for his murder. Abhijeet Roy, the deceased, served as the BJP booth president and polling agent for Booth Number 168 in Manteshwar’s Jamna area, falling under the Burdwan-Durgapur Lok Sabha seat where Dilip Ghosh is contesting as the BJP candidate.

According to the police, after villagers found the body of Roy at a farmhouse this morning, a team from the Manteshwar police station recovered it.

Shortly after news of Abhijeet Roy’s death spread, Bharatiya Janata Party workers gathered in front of Manteswar Police Station and surrounded the premises, demanding that a murder case be filed and the culprits be apprehended. Local BJP leaders also alleged that Abhijeet Roy was killed by miscreants backed by the Trinamool Congress and asserted that there was no reason for him to take his own life.

BJP candidate Dilip Ghosh claimed, ā€œThe TMC always tries to terrorise the area so that it can rig the booths. This time the TMC failed to do so and, out of frustration they probably murdered Abhijeet.ā€

So far, elections have been conducted in four phases across 24 seats, with at least five workers being beaten up in each seat and numerous individuals being kidnapped and coerced into voting. Sandeshkhali woman lodges police complaint alleges abduction

A woman on May 16 lodged a police complaint, alleging that three persons abducted her from outside her residence in West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali, where allegations of sexual abuse against TMC leaders have been levelled. In her complaint with the Sandeshkhali Police Station, the woman claimed that she was pressured to tell courts that alleged atrocities on women in the area were “false”.

In a purported video shared by BJP leader and lawyer Priyanka Tibrewal on social media, the woman was heard saying that she was gagged and dragged out of her house when she went outside after hearing the barking of dogs.

Today I visited Sandeshkhali, where TMC goons, are threatening the people to prove Sk. Shahjahan is innocent. One woman named Anwesha Mondal, told me about the atrocities of Dilip Mallickw who few days ago abducted a woman,

In a post on X on May 15, Priyanka Tibrewal stated, “Today I visited Sandeshkhali, where TMC goons are threatening the people to prove Sk. Shahjahan is innocent. One woman named Anwesha Mondal told me about the atrocities of Dilip Mallick who few days ago abducted a woman. Following this complaint, today evening, TMC goons abducted her, tied her up, and left her beside a pond to die. We took her to the Police Station.ā€
