BJP Telangana complains to EC, alleging CM Revanth holding press conference after voting

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana has officially lodged a complaint with the Election Commission, accusing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of violating election regulations under Section 126 of the Representation of Peoples Act

BJP Telanana has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against A Revanth Reddy, Chief Minister of Telangana, under Section 126 of the Representation of Peoples Act alleging the violation of election regulations during the ongoing electoral process on May 13.

According to the complaint, CM Revant Reddy after voting process at Kodangal in the Mahabubnagar Parliamentary constituency he conducted a press conference. This conference was broadcast live on various television channels, including V6 and TV9, between 11:40 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Despite the silent period rule outlined in Section 126, Reddy’s actions violated the prescribed norms.

During the press conference, CM Revant made several statements, including urging voters to support the Congress party in Mahabubnagar and expressing scepticism about the BJP’s electoral prospects. Such comments directly contravene the Model Code of Conduct.

Today, voting for the fourth phase of Loksabha elections in 96 seats is going on. Andhra Pradesh (25), Telangana (17), Uttar Pradesh (13), Maharashtra (11), Madhya Pradesh (8), West Bengal (8), Bihar (5), Odisha (4), and Jammu and Kashmir (1) are among the states scheduled in this phase. In Andhra Pradesh, voters will cast their ballots to elect representatives for the 175-member State Assembly. Additionally, 28 Legislative Assembly seats in Odisha will also be contested in this round of voting.
