Guwahati: On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, the spirit of Ram Navami resonated through 45 districts of Bangladesh, including Dhaka, Chittagong, Gopalganj, Nilphamari, Mymensingh, and Narsingdi, as the Bangladesh National Hindu Mohajot spearheaded vibrant festivities to honour Bhagwan Sri Ram Chandra.

At the Sri Sri Ram Sita Mandir on Jai Kali Mandir Road in Dhaka, the day commenced with fervent worship of Sri Ram Chandra at 5 am, followed by a yagna ceremony and a brief discussion meeting under the esteemed leadership of Ganesh Chandra Ghosh, President of Ramsita Mandir. Among the notable attendees were General Secretary Milton Biswas, Joint General Secretary Shubo Majumdar, and other distinguished members of the Hindu Mohajot.

The celebration culminated in a colourful procession, led by Gobind Chandra Pramanik, General Secretary of Hindu Mohajot, which commenced from Dhaka’s Ram Sita Temple, traversing through prominent landmarks like Banga Bhavan, Ittefaq Mor, Jagatbandhu Ashram, and Jiu Mandir Mor of Madneshwar Mahad, before concluding back at Ram Sita Temple via Baldha Garden Mor.

During the festivities, speakers highlighted the timeless teachings of Lord Ram Chandra, emphasising the importance of principles ingrained in the Ramayana, such as upholding moral values, respecting women, fostering familial harmony, and promoting goodwill among neighbours. They underscored that Ramayana’s teachings are as relevant today as ever, especially amidst the contemporary challenges of deteriorating family structures and global unrest.

The speakers also noted the significance of Ramrajya, symbolising an ideal state founded on justice, compassion, and righteousness, akin to the benevolent reign of Bhagwan Ram. They emphasised the need to emulate the values of Bhagwan Ram, foster amicable relations with neighbouring countries, and advocate for global harmony.

The day concluded with the distribution of prasad in the afternoon and soul-stirring renditions of the Ramayana in the evening, marking the end of the auspicious Ram Navami festival.

As devotees immersed themselves in the celebrations, the echoes of devotion and reverence for Bhagwan Ram Chandra reverberated across the breadth of Bangladesh, reaffirming the enduring legacy of the revered deity and the timeless wisdom encapsulated in the epic saga of the Ramayana.
