While addressing a public rally in Bihar’s Gaya on April 10, Union Home Minister Amit Shah credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for curbing Maoists and providing infrastructural boost to the country.

“PM Modi almost freed the country from the Maoist menace. Today people talk about roads, health and education. There used to be a time when no public campaign could be organised here in the evening. Maoists used to carry out bomb attacks. Bihar and Jharkhand have got relief from Maoists,” he said.

He highlighted that in 2014, the people of Bihar gave (BJP-led NDA) 31 out of the 40 seats. In 2019, they gave 39 out of the 40 seats. He further requested, “Help the NDA win all the 40 seats in Bihar.”

Thanking PM Modi for conferring the Bharat Ratna to former Bihar CM Karpoori Thakur, he said, “I thank PM that after years Karpoori Thakur was given Bharat Ratna. Even Lalu ji was so fond of him. Congress came & lost power but Karpoori Thakur was never given the due respect…”

Lashing out at the Congress Government, he said, “They play the appeasement politics. They believe in dividing the North and South of the country. We won’t allow this to happen. They do anything for the vote bank. They cannot work for development. What they are capable of doing is corruption only.”

He requested voters to make BJP win seats beyond 400, saying, “If you vote for us, I promise that PM Modi will take the Indian economy to the 3rd position globally.”

Notably, Bihar will see polling for 40 Lok Sabha seats across all seven phases. In Phase 1, voting will be held in four seats. Another 5 seats will go to polls between phases 2 and 5. In Phases 6 and 7, polling will be held for 8 seats each.

The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will be held in seven phases, starting April 19. The counting of votes is scheduled for June 4.
