Two days after the chilling murder of young Hindu kids in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh police arrested the second accused on March 21. The second accused, identified as Mohammad Javed, was arrested in Bareilly. Notably, hours after the murder, the accused, Sajid (22) was gunned down in an encounter with the police, IG Bareilly Range RK Singh told the media.

In a viral video, Javed can be seen saying, “I was not in the village that day. As I reached Badaun, there were so many people that, I fled the scene and left for Delhi. I have received so many calls regarding the incident where people told me what my brother had done. I have come here to surrender. I am a very simple man, I have nothing to do with the incident.”

He added, “Hand me over to the police. We had good relations with the parents to the minors killed but I have no idea why my brother did this. I swear on my mother that, I have nothing to do with this case.”

The victims, identified as Ahan and Ayush, fell prey to the heinous act allegedly by Sajid, who was later shot in a police cross-firing and declared dead.

According to the preliminary investigation, Sajid arrived outside the victims’ residence on a motorcycle accompanied by his brother, Javed, around 7 p.m. Seeking a loan of Rs 5000, Sajid entered the house and confronted Vinod Kumar’s wife, Sangita, while sending their second son, Piyush Pratap, on an errand. Tragically, Sajid’s ulterior motive unfolded as he led the innocent children, Ahan and Ayush, to the roof where they were butchered.

Vinod Kumar, the grieving father, promptly filed a First Information Report (FIR), narrating the harrowing sequence of events leading to the loss of his two sons and the other being in hospital.

As recounted in the FIR, Sangita stumbled upon a chilling scene as she emerged with the money, witnessing Sajid and Javed coming down the stairs, brandishing a blood-stained knife. The mother’s worst fears were realised when she discovered her two sons lying lifeless in a pool of blood on the roof. Despite the chaos, Piyush narrowly escaped the assailants’ wrath.

The encounter with Sajid revealed damning evidence, including an illegal pistol in his possession. Further investigation uncovered Sajid and Javed held familial ties, with both the minors implicated in the heinous crime.

An FIR has been lodged against them at the Civil Lines police station, charging them with murder, attempted murder, and trespassing.

According to Bareilly Inspector-General of Police Rakesh Kumar, the victims were playing on their terrace when the accused arrived, waited for a perfect moment, and then mercilessly attacked them, leading to their tragic demise. A third child sustained severe injuries to the neck and was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Sajid, accompanied by his brother Javed, was later confronted by law enforcement and met his end in a police encounter.

Eyewitness accounts, including that of the surviving brother of the deceased children, shed light on the horrific events leading to the murders. The eyewitness recounted how the accused barged into their home, led the victims to the terrace, and unleashed a brutal assault. He managed to escape with injuries, describing the harrowing ordeal to news agency ANI.
