In a recent press conference that was held at UGC headquarters in New Delhi, UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar reiterated that the CUET UG 2024 exam will be held on the aforementioned date with no changes. As per the earlier notification, the CUET UG 2024 exam is scheduled to be conducted between May 15 and May 30, maintaining consistency with the predefined timeline. Addressing his concerns regarding the potential impact of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on the schedule of the exam, Chairman Kumar said that the CUET UG 2024 will be conducted as per the original planned schedule i.e. with no alterations to the previously announced dates.
Candidates who wish to register for CUET UG 2024 can fill out the application form till March 26. Once the registration window is closed, the CUET UG 2024 date sheet will be released by UGC.

He further added that the total number of students registered for the exam along with their geographical distribution will be known once the registration process of CUET UG 2024 ends on March 26. Based on this data, the date sheet will be released. However the exam date of CUET UG 2024 will remain the same.

Kumar’s announcement offers clarity and assurance to CUET UG 2024 registered candidates, enabling them to focus on the preparations with confidence. As notified earlier, the exam will be conducted in a hybrid format including both Computer-based test (CBT) and Paper-based test (PBT) modes for different subjects. Subjects that will have higher registrations will be conducted in a pen-and-paper format using optical mark recognition (OMR), while the subjects with fewer registrations will be conducted in computer-based mode.
Earlier this month, the Election Commission of India announced that Lok Sabha Elections will be conducted in seven phases starting from April 19, 2024.
About CUET UG 2024 exam pattern
There are 33 languages and 27 subjects available for candidates to choose from while filling the CUET UG 2024 application form. This caters to the requirements of different universities and allows candidates to select subjects or languages that align with their interests and academic goals in long term.
As per the paper pattern of CUET UG 2024, in each language paper, there will be a total of 50 papers out of which candidates are expected to attempt 40 questions. Additionally, for undergraduate programmes where a General Test is there for admission purposes, out of 60 questions, candidates are required to answer 50 questions.
During the previous cycle of the CUET UG exam, around 14.9 lakh registrations were done. This year the number is expected to go beyond this.
