Uttar Pradesh Love Jihad: Rashid posed as Aman to trap Hindu woman, left after impregnating her; case registered

In a case involving allegations of ‘Love Jihad’ from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, a Muslim individual identified as Rashid stands accused of concealing his true identity to ensnare a Hindu woman. It is claimed that he assumed a false Hindu identity under the name Aman, initiating a romantic relationship with her.

Reports suggest that Rashid deceitfully promised marriage to win her confidence, engaging in physical intimacy with her on numerous occasions through continued deception. Subsequently, upon impregnating her, he abandoned her and absconded.

The event unfolded in the Govardhan locality of Mathura, involving a Hindu woman originally from Dausa, Rajasthan, who was employed at the Indira Rasoi. Rashid, also a resident of Govardhan, was reportedly working there under the guise of a Hindu individual named Aman, as per the victim’s account. Gradually, she became ensnared in his deceitful web, enticed by his false promises of marriage.

The woman reported that, under the pretence of marriage, Rashid, the accused, engaged in physical intimacy with her on several occasions, ultimately resulting in her pregnancy. However, when the woman began insisting on formalising their relationship through marriage, Rashid’s true intentions were revealed. Not only did he decline to marry her, but the woman also discovered his real identity.

After impregnating her, Rashid, the accused, fled. Upon the victim’s inquiry, she discovered that the man she knew as Aman was actually named Rashid. Consequently, she sought assistance from Hindu organisations in the area, who accompanied her to file a complaint at the Govardhan police station.

Furthermore, members of these organisations apprehended Rashid’s brother and handed him over to the authorities. Despite this, the accused remains at large, prompting ongoing efforts by the police to locate him. Inspector Vinod Babu Mishra, in charge of the Govardhan police station, assured that the matter is under investigation, with appropriate actions being pursued.
