Dibrugarh, Assam: The political landscape in Assam witnessed a fervent display of support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal rallied the masses in Chabua Lahowal and Duliajan constituencies. Amidst enthusiastic chants of “Akow Ebaar, Modi Sarkar” (Once More, Modi Government), Sonowal expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support garnered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government for a third consecutive term.

Addressing the crowd, Sonowal emphasised the transformative impact of Modi’s governance, citing holistic development and self-reliance as hallmarks of the administration’s tenure. He lauded the surge of opportunities ushered in for the people of Northeast India, particularly the youth and women, under Modi’s committed leadership. Sonowal reiterated the assurance of a secure future for Assam under the “Modi Ki Guarantee.”

However, amidst the celebration of progress, Sonowal did not shy away from confronting the dark shadows of the past. He lambasted the Congress-powered opposition, accusing them of colluding with forces of corruption, violence, disharmony, and indifference that plagued Assam for decades. Sonowal lamented the loss of lives and denied rights under previous regimes, attributing the woes to entrenched corruption and inefficiency.

Highlighting the contrast, Sonowal praised Modi’s unwavering focus on the Northeast, evident in his frequent visits to the region—a testament to his commitment to its growth and development. He underscored the pivotal role of the Northeast in India’s economic trajectory, echoing Modi’s vision of the region as a powerhouse of growth.

Sonowal extended an olive branch to coalition partners within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), affirming a collective commitment to building a new Assam and India under Modi’s dynamic leadership. He lauded the success of Modi’s welfare schemes, emphasising their role in elevating the standard of living and ensuring social security for the people.

In a scathing critique of the Congress, Sonowal accused the party of a six-decade-long failure to deliver on basic welfare facilities, including transportation, education, and healthcare. He contrasted the strides made under Modi’s tenure with the stagnation of previous administrations, urging voters to rally behind the BJP in the pursuit of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).

As the political temperature rises in Assam, Sonowal’s impassioned rhetoric resonates with voters, underscoring the stakes in the upcoming elections. With the battle lines drawn between progress and regression, the electorate faces a pivotal choice—one that could shape the trajectory of Assam’s future for years to come.
