In a joint operation by Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh police, as many as six accused, including two Maoist cadres, were nabbed from the Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday, March 13. The operation was conducted following reliable input provided by the Jharkhand police after which the accused were arrested by the Chhattisgarh police, informed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ankit Garg.

Among those arrested is Tunesh Oraon, alias Ravi, area commander of the outlawed Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), a splinter group of a proscribed CPI Maoist, and his close acquaintance RamLakda, another active cadre of the JJMP. The other four accused nabbed by the police are reported to be local residents of Jashpur.

The police team has also seized an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and 90 live cartridges from the possession of the accused. The arrest showcases the smooth coordination between the Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh police.

Jharkhand police had shared real time information with us on the basis of which the accused have been arrested, Further cooperation between the police of both states will continue, added IG Garg.
