Notably, earlier the Chhattisgarh government had announced that it will provide a monthly financial assistance of Rs 1000 to the Matrshakti (women) of the State. The announcement was made public after the State cabinet in a meeting held on January 31 decided to implement the scheme with an eye-catching theme of “Sashakt Mahila Majboot Pradesh” (Empowered Women Strengthened State)
The flagship scheme launched by the State government includes all married women resident of the State above the age of 21, along with widows, divorcees, and destitute women of Chhattisgarh who has been benefitted with the first installment of the scheme.
Earlier CM Vishnu Deo Sai, while announcing the scheme had termed it a revolutionary step in the field of women empowerment and remarked that the State cabinet by approving the yearly assistance of Rs 12,000 to the married women residents has fulfilled one of the “guarantees of Modi”.
Significantaly, earlier the Union Government, in a historic move, passed the “Nari Shakti Abhinandan Adhiniyam,” providing reservation to women in Parliament and State assemblies in September last year.
The initiative is believed to be taken to further extend the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) resolve to uplift and empower the womenfolk of the country assuring their vibrant participation in the mainstream.
It is worth mentioning that a number of similar schemes focused on the empowerment and upliftment of the Matrashakti have already been initiated and are being operationalised by the Union government across Bharat. One of such scheme is the Lakhpati Didi Yojna under which at least 1 crore women have got help through 83 lakh Self Help Groups (SHGs) operational across Bharat.
