In a shocking incident within the premises of the Karnataka Assembly, Congress members raised pro-Pakistan slogans, triggering condemnation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and nationalist groups. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, has ignited a fierce political debate and raised concerns about national security and minority appeasement politics.

The incident unfolded shortly after the declaration of Rajya Sabha member Syed Naseer Hussain’s victory, alongside two other Congress candidates, Ajay Makhen and GC Chandrasekar. Following the announcement, Hussain’s supporters began chanting “Pakistan Zindabad” in a high decibel while cheering for him, prompting the BJP to file a complaint at the Vidhana Soudha police station.

In the complaint, the BJP accused Hussain and his supporters of brazenly shouting pro-Pakistan slogans within the legislative premises, equating the act to an allegiance to the Pakistani state. The BJP leaders condemned the incident as a reflection of Congress’s minority appeasement politics and compromising national security for political gains.

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekar criticised the Congress’s approach, highlighting instances of alleged appeasement politics and compromises with national security. He cited the party’s signing of MoUs with China and inviting separatist individuals to conferences in Bengaluru as examples of its questionable actions.

Union Minister Prahalad Joshi debunked Hussain’s defence and called for clarification from senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, highlighting Hussain’s association as his disciple. Meanwhile, CM Siddharamaiah announced a forensic investigation into the incident, promising decisive action if the report confirms the slogans were raised in favour of Pakistan.

The incident has reignited concerns about minority appeasement politics and the need for stringent action against those compromising national security. Critics have pointed out instances where Congress leaders allegedly criticised the country on foreign soil and openly supported China and Pakistan, further fueling the debate.

While the political fallout from the incident continues to unfold, questions have been raised about the safety and protection of Indian interests within legislative premises. The incident has underscored the importance of upholding national unity and security while addressing political differences.
