NIA arrests terrorists of banned outfit PFI
In a startling revelation, terrorist trainer Jaffar Bheemantavide, who was apprehended on February 12, has confessed to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) that he trained the assailants responsible for the murder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh pracharak SK Sreenivasan who was brutally killed on April 16, 2022, in Palakkad, Kerala.
During interrogation, Jaffar disclosed that the banned outfit, Popular Front of India (PFI), orchestrated the attack on Sreenivasan and had sinister plans to eliminate several other top RSS karyakartas. According to Jaffar, PFI has designated killer squads for executing such nefarious activities.
Notably, Jaffar serves as the chief weapon trainer for PFI, and the training sessions were conducted at ‘Green Valley,’ a sprawling 25-acre institution located near Malappuram. This facility served as a hub for conducting major training sessions, where animals were reportedly subjected to gruesome experiments.
The arrest of Jaffar comes in the wake of intensified efforts by law enforcement agencies to crack down on terrorist activities orchestrated by extremist outfits like PFI. Sreenivasan, a former Zilla Sareerik Pramukh and Pracharak of RSS, fell victim to this heinous plot, leaving the community and authorities in shock.
NIA, which arrested Jaffar from his Kannur residence, had previously accused him of engaging in anti-national activities. He is the 59th suspect in the preliminary FIR issued by NIA, with ties to the PFI’s efforts to establish an Islamic State in Bharat since 1947. Jaffar also allegedly played a role in the notorious hand-chopping case of Prof. TJ Joseph on July 4, 2010, as part of PFI’s act of terror. His involvement in imparting training to PFI’s killer squads across the state has been unveiled during the detailed NIA interrogation.
Disturbingly, Jaffar’s revelations suggest that these centres, akin to the notorious ‘Green Valley’ where major training sessions were conducted, enjoyed tacit support or patronage from the Kerala Police. NIA had reportedly issued instructions to the Kerala Police to intensify surveillance and raids on such centres, but their execution remains in question.
In a separate but equally alarming incident, the husband of Shameera Beevi, identified as a prominent PFI figure, is under scrutiny following the tragic demise of Shameera and her newborn on February 20 in Nemom, Thiruvananthapuram. Nayas, reportedly a sleeping cell leader of PFI, allegedly obstructed Shameera from seeking hospital treatment, citing religious reasons, leading to her demise during a home birth.
Nayas, known for his involvement in PFI activities and his role as a religious speaker and announcer, forced Shameera into a home birth, denying her access to a hospital despite pleas from health workers. It is reported that Nayas misbehaved with health workers who requested hospital assistance. Nayas, already in custody and booked for culpable homicide, has a controversial history, having maintained links with his first wife and children while marrying Shameera.
Shameera’s tragic end prompts further investigation, as health department complaints against Nayas’s adamant refusal to seek hospital care may have played a role in the unfortunate incident. This incident, along with Jaffar’s revelations, raises serious questions about the nexus between certain elements within the state and the activities of extremist outfits like PFI, emphasising the need for a thorough investigation into these disturbing connections.
