The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a significant step towards empowering the youth belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) by announcing a one-year free computer course. This initiative aims to provide essential skills and opportunities for socio-economic growth and development among marginalised communities.
According to the guidelines laid out by the UP government, interested candidates are invited to apply for the free computer course, which will be conducted at the Regional Service Yojana Office. The training session is scheduled to commence from April 2024, offering a comprehensive curriculum to equip participants with valuable computer literacy and job-oriented skills.
Shashi Bhushan Upadhyay, Assistant Director of the Regional Service Planning Office, elaborated on the course structure and eligibility criteria during a recent briefing. He emphasised that the program would cover essential subjects such as computer operation, Hindi typing and shorthand, secretarial systems, general knowledge, mathematics, English, and bookkeeping. Moreover, candidates will receive guidance and preparation for various competitive exams, enhancing their employability prospects.
To be eligible for the training programme, candidates must have passed at least an intermediate examination and studied English as a subject in high school. Additionally, applicants should be between 18 to 35 years old as of April 1, 2024, with a relaxation of five years in the upper age limit for SC/ST and OBC candidates. Furthermore, three percent of the total sanctioned posts are reserved for disabled candidates from these categories.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing additional skills such as knowledge of Hindi shorthand, typing, and computer proficiency. Interested individuals are required to submit their application forms along with photocopies of educational qualifications, caste certificates, and registration cards to the Employment Office in Meerut. The submission deadline is set for March 23, 2024, by 3 pm.
Following the document submission, interviews for male SC candidates will be conducted on March 27, 2024, while female SC candidates will undergo interviews on March 28, 2024. Similarly, interviews for OBC candidates are scheduled for March 30, 2024, at 10:30 am.
The initiative underscores the Uttar Pradesh government’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities for all sections of society. By providing free computer education and skill development programmes, it aims to bridge the digital divide and empower marginalised communities to thrive in the rapidly evolving job market.
