In a shocking incident, alleged CPM goons reportedly attacked a school located in Thottilppalam near Kuttyaadi in Kozhikode district. The attack was aimed at disrupting a pooja ceremony being conducted by the management family on the school campus during the night.

According to Aruna, the manager of the school, which belongs to a private management, the puja was organised for the moksha of her deceased parents and to commemorate the completion of new buildings on the premises. Aruna clarified that only her husband and other family members were present during the pooja, emphasising that it was a private family affair.

The pooja was organised for the moksha of the family’s deceased parents and to mark the completion of new buildings on the school campus.

According to Smt. Aruna, the manager of the private school, the CPM workers shouted anti-BJP and anti-RSS slogans during the attack. The party allegedly spread false propaganda, claiming that “BJP men carry out pooja and arms training in the school to threaten and control the manager and family members by force.”

CPM workers gathered people in the area, accusing the school management of being aligned with the BJP and conducting activities to dominate the region. Some television channels reportedly amplified this false narrative, even before police confirmation.

The CPM workers surrounded and incarcerated the manager and family members inside the school for several hours. Thottilpalam Police later clarified that there was no evidence to suggest the pooja was organised under the leadership of the BJP.

The school manager countered the CPM’s claims, stating that a Homam (religious ritual) was conducted on February 13 in connection with the school’s renovation. She alleged that CPM members attacked the school, disrupting the Homam. The manager suggested that the attack was driven by the CPM’s frustration over their repeated failed attempts to gain control of the school. Despite court rulings in favour of the school’s management, the CPM had allegedly attempted to take control on multiple occasions.

CR Praful Krishna, state president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), accused the CPM of attempting to incite communal tensions with the attack. He emphasised that the pooja was conducted without the participation of students, teachers, or government officials, and condemned the CPM’s actions as an assault on faith.

This incident highlights the ongoing political and ideological clashes in northern Kerala, where CPM’s stronghold has led to instances of alleged hooliganism in areas dubbed as “party villages.”
