Kerala: Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai honoured with civic reception for authoring 200 books

Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai received a warm civic reception in Chengannur, Alappuzha district, his native place, to celebrate his remarkable feat of authoring 200 books. The organisers of the event curated an unprecedented exhibition showcasing the entirety of his literary oeuvre, marking the first-of-its-kind exhibition in the state.

The exhibition not only recognized the prolific literary contributions of Governor Pillai but also provided an opportunity for the public to engage with the vast body of work spanning 200 books.

PS Sreedharan Pillai is a versatile personality. He is a senior political leader in the state. He was the state BJP of president for two terms. An orator par excellence, Sreedharan Pillai is a good TV debater and an exemplary character. He is one of the most sought-after criminal lawyers in the state and an excellent writer in the realm of literature. He writes articles on social affairs, history and political affairs, legal matters, stories, and poems. He has authored four compilations of poems. He commands respect from the entire social and political spectrum of the state. As the Governor of Mizoram and now of Goa, Pillai has demonstrated his administrative skills according to timely demands.

Recently, his 200th book was released at Raj Bhavan, Goa, by Hon. Uprashtrapati Sri. Jagdeep Dhankar. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant referred to the chronologies of Pillai’s writing career. His first book was published in 1985. CM said, Pillai’s “Pazhassi Smriti” was released in 2010 by the then Rashtrapati Smt. Pratibha Patil.

His “Rent of Laws” was released in 1985. His “Dark Days of Emergency”, a remarkable work on the fascist Emergency declared by Smt. Indira Gandhi, is an authentic work and was released by Prime Minister of Modiji.

Uparashtrapati Sri . Jagdeep Dhankar released the Governor’s 200th book “Vamana Vriksha Kala”, a work on ‘Bonsai’. It marked the Golden Jubilee of Sreedharan Pillai’s literary activities. Speaking on the same occasion, Hon. Uprashtrapati Sri. Jagdeep Dhankar said, unity in diversity is the essence of the society. He stressed the need of the meaningful and fruitful dialogues. He said that creativity may come and go; but to sustain it is a tough task.

Olympian PT Usha MP, Indian Olympics Association President, said in her felicitation speech that Governor Sreedharan Pillai is the pride of the state of Kerala.

The first copy of the book was received by Damodar Mauzo, the Jnanpit laureate, from the Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar.The Jnanpit laureate said that Governor Pillai has turned a great writer despite his busy schedules as a politician, an eminent lawyer and at last as a dynamic Governor.

Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai delivered the reply speech. He highlighted the values of literature. He said that in every forest, mother trees are found, which always keep communicating with surrounding trees. This communication is always held through the roots, which are scientifically proven, the governor added. The Governor mentioned about the inspiration of writing on different subjects. He said, he got this idea from the Goan public during his visits to rural areas and by communicating with the general public.
