Scores of applicants submitted their applications after the opening of the registration link for the flagship Mahtari Vandana Yojna (Scheme) launched by the Chhattisgarh government in which monthly assistance of Rs1000 is to be paid to the women residents of the State.

The scheme, on the first day of opening up the registration link, attracted large numbers of women residents, as a whopping 1.81 applicants registered on the link provided by the State government. The development occurred after the State government opened the registration link on Monday, Ferbruary 5.

“More than 1.81 lakh women have registered for the Mahtari Vandan Yojna on the first day of opening of the registration link. Mahtari Vandan Yojna

Notably, the Chhattisgarh government announced on January 31 that it will provide a monthly financial assistance of Rs 1000 to the Matrshakti (women) of the State under the flagship Mahtari Vandan Yojna.

The scheme, which has been launched with an eye-catching theme of “Sashakt Mahila Majboot Pradesh” (Empowered Women Strengthened State) would include all married women resident of the State above the age of 21 including widows, divorcees, and destitute women, informed the Chhattisgarh government last week.

The flagship scheme has been launched in line of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) resolve to uplift and empower the womenfolk of the country assuring their vibrant participation in the mainstream.

Women-Centered Approach of the Union Government

It is worth mentioning that a number of similar schemes focused on the empowerment and upliftment of the Matrashakti have already been initiated and are being operationalised by the Union government across Bharat.

Earlier, while disclosing the statistics of a few schemes initiated by the government with an aim to help empower the women of rural Bharat, the Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Seetharaman had announced that the union government has decided to extend the benefits of the Lakhpati Didi Yojna to around 3 crore women across the country. It is estimated that under the flagship scheme launched by the government, at least 1 crore women have got help through 83 lakh Self Help Groups (SHGs) operational across Bharat.

Notably, praising the contribution of the Naari Shakti in the economic growth of Bharat in Parliament, Prime Minister Modi also asserted that our Naari Shakti has been empowering the rural economy of Bharat and as many as 10 crores sisters have already been associated with the Women Self Group across the nation.

It is to be noted that earlier, the Union Government, in a historic move also adapted the “Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam” paving way for 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament and State assemblies in September last year.

The bill passed with record votes in parliament won accolades from all quarters as it fulfilled the long-held promise of all the political parties, including the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). The adaptation of the bill is expected to further cement the position of the PM Modi led party among the women voters across the country, considered as a significant force behind the electoral success of the BJP in recent years.
