As many as 101 families have officially re-instated into the Sanatan fold after they were welcomed by the workers of the Dharm Sena, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), and Arya Samaj in a Samaj Pramukh Samman Sammelan organised in Korba district of Chhattisgarh on Sunday, December 24.

Several families who had earlier converted to Christianity under the influence of certain individuals and groups are reverted back to Sanatan and the programme was organised to officially re-instate them into their bonafide religion, informed members of the Dharma Sena.

Senior Bhartiya Janjata Party (BJP) leader and Akhil Bhartiya Gherwapasi Pramukh, Prabal Pratap Judev welcomed the returnees by washing their feet with the holy water and welcomed them to the Sanatan Dharma. Taking to the X, the BJP state secretary, Judev, in a post while welcoming the returnees, wrote, “that those who have returned towards their ancestors have contributed to strengthening the nation, and we are proud.”

Earlier, while addressing the gathering, Judev thanked everyone to organising such an event where returnees in large numbers made a comeback to their original Dharma. “There was a time when from Kndhaar to Indonesia there were only Hindus, though rampant conversion through the means of violence led those regions to separate from Bharat. The same has been extended to the name of service in today’s  Bharat, said Judev.

The programme was attended by a number of heads of the respective communities residing in the area, who were honoured by the representatives of Dharm Sena. The programme concluded with a resolve to stop conversion and to welcome those who are willing to return to the Sanatan Dharma.

Speaking with the Organiser, State president of Dharm Sena, Surendra Bahadur, informed that rampant conversion has been promoted in this region where hundreds of families have converted to Christianity over the years through the means of inducement and lure.

“Around 600 people hailing from separate communities of the Sanatan fold were converted by illegal means into Christianity in Katgoda region itself. Hence, we organised meetings with heads of the respective communities and asked them to take initiative to guide and help the converted families return to their bona fide religion.

“We held separate meetings with members of as many as 41 communities, including members from the Yadav and Oraon communities, and requested that to do gharwapasi resulting in homecoming of hundreds of people following which we organised a program and honoured them by washing their feet”, said Surendra Bahadur.

When asked about the modus operandi of the conversion, Bahadur replied that most of the people who were converted are victims of lure and a strong anti-conversion law is the need of hour to stop such attempts. “Why only followers of the Sanatan Dharma are being targeted? We had conveyed our concerned pertaining to illegal conversion to the government in the past as well and would like to reiterate our demand of a strict law”, added Surendra Bahadur.

It is to be noted that a number of reports pertaining to illegal conversion has been keep coming to the fore from separate regions of Chhattisgarh since long leading to the demand of a stringent anti-conversion law by various organisations.
