Chhattisgarh: CRPF Sub Inspector killed in Maoist attack, another jawan critically injured in Jagargunda, Sukma

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Sub Inspector has been martyred while another Jawan has sustained grave injuries after a Small Action Team (SAT) of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) launched a surprise attack on the personnel who were out on a routine area domination exercise under Maoist-infested Jagargunda police station of Sukma in Chhattisgarh.

According to the reports, the attack occurred when the personnel of 165th battalion of the CRPF stationed at Bedre camp, a recently opened Forward Operating Base (FOB) were out on a routine area domination exercise on Sunday morning, December 17.

As per the latest reports, during the gunfight between the forces and the extremists, a sub-inspector of the CRPF has been martyred, while a constable has also sustained grave injuries. The deceased sub-inspector has been identified as Sudhakar Reddy, while the constable has been identified as Ramu. It’s been learned that the injured constable, Ramu, has received bullet injuries and has been airlifted after getting basic treatment at nearby health care facility.

An extensive search in the vicinity of the encounter site is being carried out by the personnel of CRPF, Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) and district force, and the security forces have also detained as many as four suspects from the region.

Meanwhile, offering his condolences to the family of the deceased sub-inspector, Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh while taking to the X said that “the supreme sacrifice of sub inspector Sudhakar Reddy will not go in vain”

The CM in the post also informed us that instructions have been passed to the officials for the best possible treatment of the injured Jawan in the attack.

It is to be noted that the martyrdom of the sub-inspector has been the third such incident to occur since the newly formed government took charge, and earlier, as many as two personnel belonging to the Border Security Force (BSF) and Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) had also been martyred in back-to-back IED explosion detonated by the Maoists in Narayanpur and Kanker on December 13.

The deceased personnel were identified as Kamlesh Sahu of the CAF, a resident of Shakti district of Chhattisgarh and BSF Jawan Akhilesh Rai, a resident of Gajipur district of Uttar Pradesh.
