It is worth mentioning here that the jawan belonging to the 47th battalion of BSF became victim of the IED explosion that was triggered by the extremists when they were out on an area dominating exercise near Partapur on Thursday, December 14 in which a Jawan sustained grave injuries.

The injured Jawan was immediately rushed to the health care facilities, where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday afternoon. The deceased Jawan was identified as Akhilesh Rai, a resident of Gajipur district of Uttar Pradesh.

The development occurred a day after another Chhattisgarh Armed Force soldier, Kamlesh Sahu met with a similar fate after he sustained grave injuries in another IED blast detonated by the extremists near Aamdai mines region under Chotedongarpur police station limits of insurgency-hit Narayanpur.

It is pertinent to mention here that road opening parties of the security forces have been dispatched on a regular basis with a view to curbing the activities of the extremists in the regions inhabited by the locals. Often, these groups of personnel are confronted by the Maoists, who sometimes ambush them by surprise or trigger such IEDs explosions to harm them.
