Another political worker has been killed by the Ultras in insurgency-hit Chhattisgarh. The development occurred when BJP functionary Komal Manjhi was hacked to death by the extremists when he was returning after offering prayers in Maoist-affected Chotedangapur of Narayanpur)

In yet another incident of targeted killings of political workers by the extremists, a local BJP worker was hacked to death in Narayanpur of insurgency-hit Chhattisgarh on Saturday, December 09. The deceased party worker of the saffron party has been identified as Komal Manjhi.

The incident occurred when Manjhi had gone to visit a temple in Chotedongar police station, within the limits of Maoist-affected Narayanpur, when the extremists hacked him to death with a sharp weapon. It’s been learned that the deceased has been the target of the ultras for quite some time.

In a video pertaining to the incident put up by News 18, Manjhi’s body can be seen lying down in the field, and then was taken for the autopsy in an ambulance. It’s been reported that the Maoists also left a leaflet near the site of the murder.

Meanwhile, taking to the social media platform X, the state unit of the BJP, while paying condolences, wrote that the Naxals have once again carried out a cowardly act in which the party has lost another devoted fumctionary.

नक्सलियों ने फ़िर एक बार अपनी कायराना हरकत दिखाई। नक्सली घटना में भाजपा ने एक और समर्पित कार्यकर्ता खोया।

It is to be noted that this is not the first time that the extremists have killed a political worker in the state, and earlier too, the extremists carried out acts of political killing on several times.

It is worth mentioning here that the Maoist-affected regions in Chhattisgarh and adjoining regions of Maharashtra, Telangana and Odisha have witnessed a huge surge in incidents of civilian killings by the Ultras, where more than a dozen civilians, including political workers, have been killed in the last year alone.
Earlier, as many as three leaders of the BJP including the district vice president of Narayanpur, were also likked by the extremists in back-to-back incidents that unfolded months before the state assembly elections.
20 Maoist including 5 female cadres surrendered in Sukma.

Meanwhile, in another significant development reported from Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, as many as 20 members of the outlawed Maoist outfit surrendered before the security forces on Saturday, December 09.

According to the details, those who have surrendered were fed up with the hollow ideology of the Maoist outfit thus chose to part ways and shun the path of violence, informed an official familiar with the development. The surrendered Maoists are all residents of the Maoist-infested Jagargunda of Sukma district.

It’s been learned that as many as five female cadres working for the outlawed are also part of the group who surrendered before the officials of district police and CRPF on Saturday.
