In a distressing incident on December 4, a Muslim woman identified as Samina faced a brutal attack by her brother-in-law, Javed Khan, allegedly for voting in favor of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the recent Madhya Pradesh assembly election. The shocking incident unfolded in the Barkheda Hasan village in Sehore district.

Samina, inspired by the ‘Ladli Behna Yojana’ of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government, cast her vote for the saffron party. Following the BJP’s decisive victory on December 3, Samina celebrated with her children. However, the jubilation turned into horror on December 4, when the accused confronted her.

Merciless Assault Unfolds

At approximately 5 pm on December 4, Javed Khan, angered by Samina’s political choice, mercilessly attacked her. The assault included slaps, punches, and the use of a stick. Samina, defiant about her voting preference, faced the brutal assault, with Javed Khan’s wife reportedly aiding him in the attack.

The victim’s cries for help attracted the attention of a neighbor named Pandit Vidya Sagar, who promptly came to her rescue. Subsequently, Samina filed a complaint at the Ahmedpur police station. Dissatisfied with the police’s inaction against Javed Khan, Samina, accompanied by her father, sought assistance from District Collector Praveen Singh on December 8.

Legal Action Initiated

A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including common intention, punishment for obscene acts or words in public, voluntarily causing hurt, and criminal intimidation. The police-in-charge, Vikram Adarsh, confirmed the development and stated that a medical examination was conducted on the victim.

Javed Khan, the prime accused, is reportedly absconding since the incident. Law enforcement authorities have initiated a thorough investigation, and efforts are underway to apprehend the accused.

Reacting to the distressing incident, Rashtriya Pansamada Muslim Mahasangh President (Madhya Pradesh unit) Naushad Khan strongly condemned the assault. The condemnation highlights the broader societal impact of such incidents and the need for collective efforts to ensure justice.
