As Bangladesh prepares for its upcoming general elections, reports of escalating persecution against Hindu minorities are surfacing in various parts of the country. The latest incident involves the brutal murder of a prominent Hindu gold trader, Suman Saha, in Chattagram, allegedly at the hands of members of the notorious Dulu gang.

Suman Saha, a well-known businessman in Chattagram town, fell victim to the ruthless attack on the night of November 26th. According to reports, Islamists associated with the Dulu gang abducted Suman, holding him captive in a room within Riyajuddin Market. The motive behind the attack appears to be a dispute over money, escalating into a violent confrontation.

During the altercation, Suman was reportedly tied up, stripped, and savagely beaten with iron rods and sticks by the assailants. The news of the incident reached Suman’s family, who rushed to the market only to find him lying on the ground, unconscious and unclothed. Despite immediate transportation to the hospital, the on-duty doctor declared Suman dead upon arrival.

Following the tragic incident, Suman’s mother filed a formal complaint with the Chattagram Kotowali Police Station. Subsequently, the police launched an investigation and swiftly apprehended three suspects directly involved in the murder. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mofijur Rahman Dulu (56), Muhammad Mamun (38), and Nur Hasan Ritu (28).

Assistant Police Commissioner Muhammed Mustafijur Rahman shed light on the case, revealing that the victim and the accused had business relations, specifically in the illegal gold smuggling trade. According to Rahman, a scuffle erupted during a meeting in the room, leading to the brutal murder of Suman Saha. The arrested suspects have reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crime, adding a chilling dimension to the already distressing situation faced by Hindu minorities in Bangladesh.
