Thailand's Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin
The World Hindu Congress, with 2,200 delegates from 61 countries, discussed challenges faced by Hindus worldwide. RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat urged global Hindu unity. In a message for the three-day World Hindu Congress (WHC) held in Bangkok, Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin lauded the Hindu values of non-violence, truth, tolerance, and harmony, expressing the belief that these principles could play a pivotal role in establishing world peace. The Thai Prime Minister’s remarks were read out during the event, as he was unable to attend due to unforeseen reasons.
Prime Minister Thavisin, in his message, expressed Thailand’s honor in hosting the Congress, emphasizing the significance of the principles and values of Hinduism that formed the foundation of the event. He stressed the need for inspiration drawn from the Hindu ethos, particularly in a world grappling with turmoil. Thavisin believes that embracing the values of non-violence, truth, tolerance, and harmony can be instrumental in establishing global peace.
The World Hindu Congress, organised every four years, aims to establish the global identity of Hindus. The event in Bangkok brought together people representing various fields such as education, economy, academics, research and development, media, and politics. The delegates, who were invited and recognised for their significant achievements, engaged in discussions on the challenges faced by Hindus worldwide.
The RSS Sarsanghchalak, Mohan Bhagwat, delivered an address during the inaugural session, calling on Hindus worldwide to reach out and connect with each other. He highlighted the importance of Hindus uniting, stating, “As Hindus are connected in more numbers, the process of connecting with the world has also started,” as reported by news agency PTI.
The three-day conference also saw participation from notable figures, including spiritual leader Mata Amritanandmayi Devi, Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) General Secretary Milind Parande, WHC organising committee chair Susheel Saraff, Bharat Sevashram Sangh Working President Swami Purnatmanand, and Hinduism Today-USA Publisher Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami.
Discussions during the Congress encompassed a wide range of topics, focusing on the challenges faced by Hindus globally. The event served as a platform for delegates to exchange ideas and strategies for addressing issues related to education, the economy, academia, research and development, media, and politics within the context of Hindu identity and values.
The World Hindu Congress has previously been held in Delhi in 2014 and Chicago in 2018. Each edition aims to strengthen the global unity of Hindus and foster a sense of shared identity, providing a space for dialogue and collaboration among accomplished individuals in various fields.
As the conference progressed, the resonance of Prime Minister Thavisin’s message advocating Hindu values for world peace echoed through the discussions and interactions among the diverse gathering of delegates.
