“WeHear” is a startup incubated at GUSEC and i-Hub Gujarat, supported by the Government of Gujarat and Startup India. “HearNU” is a patented device made in India by WeHear, which is the “World’s First Non-Surgical Solution” for individuals with conductive hearing loss. The HearNU device uses ‘Bone Conduction Technology’ to send sound directly to the cochlea, bypassing the physical ears. This device is non-invasive and provides solutions for people with profound hearing loss as well. Over 5,000 hearing-impaired individuals from birth are using the product and experiencing  improved hearing.

The product has been evaluated by leading ENT surgeons and audiologists in India and around the world. Additionally, the device has undergone clinical trials at two major institutes in India, including the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) in Mysore and the Ali Yavar Jung Institute of Speech and Hearing in Mumbai.

WeHear holds a registered patent for its non-surgical Bone-conduction Hearing Aid Device. The product is CE, ROHS, ISO, and CDSCO certified. The HearNU product boasts incredible features such as wireless Bluetooth connectivity, 5-channel programming capability, a rechargeable battery, TV connectivity, and more. It also comes with a 3-year manufacturing warranty.

WeHear has received recognition from former President of India Shri Ramnath Kovind and has been awarded by Union Minister Anurag Thakur. The company also received the “Social Impact Award 2022” at BSE and the Atal Innovation Award 2021.

WeHear has launched “Project Shruti” with the goal of providing HearNU devices to children with hearing loss from birth, with the support of NGOs such as the Indian Red Cross Society, the Blind People Association, and Voice of SAP. In this project, over 4,200 hearing-impaired children were tested in each district of Gujarat, with 3,401 of them able to hear with the help of the device.

The WeHear device has received a 75 percent positive response from individuals with hearing impairments. These beneficiaries were provided with devices through various CSR projects, NGO partnerships, and government support. The device has had a profoundly positive impact on beneficiaries, with over 80 percent now able to listen and speak well, enabling them to attend regular schools. The company is now expanding to other states in the country, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Telangana.

All WeHear products are proudly designed, developed, engineered, and manufactured in India, with an in-house team of product designers, electronics engineers, software developers, and quality control engineers. The company is actively working on developing more products for individuals with hearing impairment, including the upcoming HearNU Spectacles and conventional BTE hearing aid devices with improved features at an affordable cost.
