Ayurveda, with its roots deeply embedded in ancient Indian traditions, continues to gain recognition worldwide for its holistic approach to health. The celebration of Ayurveda Day serves as a reminder of its enduring relevance and the ongoing efforts to integrate its principles into the modern healthcare landscape.

“On the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras, we also mark Ayurveda Day. It is an occasion to salute the innovators and practitioners who are blending this ancient knowledge with modernity, propelling Ayurveda to new heights globally,” PM Modi expressed.

He highlighted the commendable efforts of individuals who are seamlessly integrating the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda with contemporary approaches, contributing to its global prominence. The Prime Minister’s message underlined the convergence of traditional practises and modern techniques, symbolising a harmonious path towards holistic well-being.

“From groundbreaking research to dynamic startups, Ayurveda is furthering new paths to wellness. Supporting Ayurveda is also a vibrant example of being #VocalForLocal”, he added.

The national Ayurveda Day has been celebrated every year since 2016 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Lord Dhanwantari, who is deemed to be the god of medicines. Ayurveda is perceived as one of the most ancient techniques for treating diseases.

It focuses on natural elements with the aim of wiping out diseases from their roots. The initiative was started in 2016 with the purpose of promoting ‘Ayurveda’ across the globe. This year, the theme of Ayurveda Day is in alignment with the theme of India’s G20 Presidency, ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, and the focal theme for Ayurveda Day 2023 has been decided as ‘Ayurveda for One Health’ with the tagline ‘Ayurveda for everyone on every day’ i.e., ‘ Har din har kisi ke liye Ayurveda’ focusing on human-animal-plant-environment interface.”

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister extended his wishes on the occasion of Dhanteras. “Many congratulations to all my family members of the country on Dhanteras, a festival symbolising health, happiness and prosperity. I wish that by the grace of Lord Dhanvantari, all of you always remain healthy, prosperous and happy, so that the determination of a developed India continues to get new energy”, he wrote in a post on ‘X’.
