Lashkar-e-Toiba Commander Akram Khan Ghazi was gunned down by unidentified bike borne men in Pakistan’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa according to media reports. The Pakistani agencies are looking into the roles of local rival entities, as well as the internal fighting within the terrorist organisation to probe Ghazi’s killing, a media agency reported.

Activities Involved

Ghazi was reportedly a member of the LeT central recruitment cell and was highly recognised and known for radicalization of terrorists later sent into Kashmir Valley. As per a report by an Indian media agency, the sinister intelligence agency of Pakistan, the Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) has been trying to downplay Ghazi also known for anti-India hate-filled rants.

Terrorists with Similar Fate

The death of Ghazi is the third assassination of the Lashkar-e-Toiba operative in recent days and the sixth killing of the top commander of the terrorist outfit operating from across the border this year. On November 5, 2023, the 2018 terror mastermind Khwaja Shahid was found beheaded (Decapitated) near the Line Of Control (LoC) in Pakistan.

Riyaz Ahemed alias Abu Qasim, one of the main conspirators behind the Dhangri terror attacks was shot dead in a mosque by unidentified gunmen in PoJK (Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir) in the month of September 2023. Originally hailing from the Jammu region, Ahmed exfiltrated across the border in 1999 and was considered as the brain behind the revival of terrorism in Poonch and Rajouri. He mostly operated from Lashkar-e-Toiba base camp in Muridke but recently shifted to Rawalkote.

In the month of March 2023, the top commander of the Hizbul-Mujahideen was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Pakistan’s Rawalpindi. Basheer Ahmed Peer also called Imtiyaz Alam who hailed from the Kupwara district had been living in Pakistan for 15 years. He was accused of bringing Zakir Musa, the chief commander of the Ansar-Gazwat-ul-Hind, an offshoot of the Al-Qaeda in Kahmir was killed in May 2019.

In the month of February, unidentified gunmen shot dead former Al-Badr Mujahideen Commander Syed Khalid Raza in the port city of Karachi in the port city of Karachi in what police called a targeted attack. Aijaz Ahmed Ahangar, a Kashmiri terrorist functioning as the top commander of the global terror group, Islamic State of Iraq, and Syria (ISIS) or simply IS was found dead, reportedly killed by the Taliban in Afghanistan’s Kunar Province earlier this year.

In October 2023, Shahid Latif, the mastermind behind the Pathankot Attack was shot dead in Pakistan. Latif was the most wanted terrorists from the Pakistani city of Gujranwala city ad was the handler of thr four terrorist whom sneaked in to the Pathankot Airbase in the year 2016.
