“Won’t be surprised if Rahul Gandhi conniving with George Soros”: BJP leader Amit Malviya

BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya lashed out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying he wouldn't be surprised if he was acting in connivance with billionaire US investor and hedge fund tycoon George Soros in "weakening the country's democratic process and destabilising a democratically elected government."

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and IT cell head Amit Malviya alleged that he would not be surprised if Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was working closely with  US investor and hedge fund tycoon George Soros to destabilise the government.

Commenting on his visit to foreign countries, Malviya said, “In the last few years, Rahul Gandhi has been making regular overseas visits. He has met all kinds of people, who are known to be linked to the George Soros Foundation. He even hosted by such people. It seems Rahul Gandhi went abroad to seek the intervention of such people in the country’s democratic process. So I will not be surprised if he’s acting in connivance with George Soros and making attempts to interfere with the country’s democratic process and destabilise a democratically elected government.”

“We will blow the lid off the sinister plot that is in the works by the Opposition, George Soros, and other foreign powers,” Malviya added. Earlier, on Tuesday, Opposition leaders, including Shashi Tharoor, Raghav Chadha, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Asaduddin Owaisi, and others, alleged a hacking alert on their Apple devices.

The leaders shared the purported screenshots of the warning received on their Apple devices. Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, who is facing ‘cash for query’ allegations and has been summoned by the Lok Sabha Ethics Panel on the same, also claimed to have received a hacking alert on her Apple device.

Denying the opposition allegations, the Centre ordered an investigation into the claims. Meanwhile, Apple officially announced on Tuesday that it does not attribute the threat notifications to any specific state-sponsored attacker.

“State-sponsored attackers are very well-funded and sophisticated, and their attacks evolve over time. Detecting such attacks relies on threat intelligence signals that are often imperfect and incomplete. It’s possible that some Apple threat notifications may be false alarms or that some attacks are not detected,” Apple said in a statement.

The tech giant added that it was unable to provide information as to what caused them to issue threat notifications, as that may help state-sponsored attackers adapt their behaviour to evade detection in the future.
Union Minister for Communications, Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, on Tuesday said the government asked Apple to join the investigation with “accurate information on the alleged state-sponsored attacks”.

“The Government of Bharat takes its role of protecting the privacy and security of all citizens very seriously and will investigate to get to the bottom of these notifications. In light of such information and widespread speculation, we have also asked Apple to join the investigation with real, accurate information on the alleged state-sponsored attacks,” Vaishnaw posted on X.
