Alleged Maoist has sent a threatening letter to a political representative of Muzaffarpur in Bihar. According to the details, the letter was sent by an area commander of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist). The Maoist in the letter has threatened the local leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and asked for a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from him.

According to the reports, former Pacs head and local leader of the RJD, Pradip Kumar, a resident of Mankauni under Kudhni police station limits of Muzaffarpur has received a threatening letter from the Area Committee of North Bihar of the banned CPI Maoist. In the letter sent to Yadav, the Maoist has asked Pradeep to pay a hefty sum of Rs 10 lakhs in two instalments.

The Maoist, in the letter, while issuing a warning to Pradeep, has said that “Pradeep Babu, you are on our hit-list as we wanted to take revenge, however a few of our associates have been nabbed by the police, thus you need to pay us Rs 10 lakhs if you want to be alive. Deliver us the money in two installments. To deliver the money, give three missed calls on our area commander Sanjay Shah cellphone. If the cell phone is found switched off, send a SMS quoting ‘I am agree’. Don’t dare to inform the police about all this otherwise you will be dead, read the letter further which has the signature of the area commander.” It’s been reported that the letter was placed outside the window of Pradeep’s house on Wednesday following which he lodged a complaint in the Fakuli OP.

Confirming about the incident, Deputy Superintendent of Police, West Muzaffarpur, Abhishek Anand said that the matter has been brought to our notice yesterday in which Rs 10 lakhs has been demanded from a resident of Fakuli. Upon receiving the complaint we have registered an FIR into the matter and initiated an enquiry, we will soon crack the case.

It’s been said that the Maoist have sent that letter but so far we have no concrete evidence except of a letter, we are investigating the matter in detail. As far as earlier killing of his family members is concerned, so far no connection between both the cases has been established, added DSP Anand.

It is to be noted that Pradeep’s elder brother Lakshmi Prasad Yadav and his son Subhas Yadav were also killed in June 2013, following which Pradeep had been also provided a security guard.

Killings by Maoist

Notably, a number of civilians have been killed by the Maoist in recent years in the Maoist affected regions across states. These killings include political representatives and other ordinary civilians who were killed by the Maoist for allegedly being police informers and working against the Maoist cause.

Earlier in a series of targeted killings unfolded in tribal dominated Chhattisgarh the ultras have killed as many as three functionaries of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in February this year. The killings include the BJP vice-president of Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh, Sagar Sahu and block president of the BJP in Usur of Bijapur. Earlier another functionary of the saffron party was also hacked to death by the Maoist in Maoist-hit Dantewada.

Further the Maoist had also issued threatening letters to another BJP leader, Bhojraj Nag and a few leaders of the saffron party of Mohla Manpur in Chhattisgarh.
