Anagha P, a final year BCom LLB student hailing from Kochi, seised a remarkable opportunity to deliver a speech on Lal Bahadur Shastri in commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri’s birthday. Her address took place in the esteemed Central Hall of Parliament, marking a significant moment during the celebrations of these eminent leaders. She was among the selected seven out of twenty-five students from all parts of the country and the only Keralite. Anagha was selected for the district, state and national level screening conducted by Nehru Yuva Kendra under the Ministry of Youth Affairs. The programme in the Central Hall was held on October 2, 2023.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Arjun Ram Mekhval were the important personalities to witness the august programme.

Anagha is in extreme euphoria for an enviable opportunity to address a gathering in the Central Hall of the historic Samvidhan Sadan, the erstwhile Parliament House. That the theme was Lal Bahadur Shastri, who led the country as an embodiment of uncompromising idealism and simple life, is of utmost patriotic significance.

Anagha has an excellent track record in her academic career and extracurricular activities. She had scored A+ for all subjects in her CBSE Plus Two examinations, and her total score was 97.4 per cent. She was first in the Commerce stream in the entire Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan schools in Kochi. After joining Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) for her BCom LLB course, she has participated in many debates and elocution competitions. She came second in the debate competition held for the universities in the southern zone and first at the national level under the Association of Indian Universities. She also came first in the international reading and discussion celebration jointly organised by Read India Celebration and Republic TV. During the Corona period, it was an online competition. ‘Read India Celebration’ is an NGO led by Raghuram Ananthoj engaged in inspiring 100 lakh students worldwide to read books). After several auditions, 25 topics were communicated to the contestants. They were given the topic only during the competition.

Anagha has bagged first prize in the Kerala State-level essay writing contest conducted by Nivedita Vanitha Samjam and second in the national-level essay writing competition organised by Konark Publishers. She was selected as the state-level best speaker of Kerala of Maria Philip Future Leader’s Debate Competition conducted by XIME in December 2021. She also spoke about Swami Vivekananda in the Ramakrishna Mission Bhakta Jana Sammelan in July 2021.

Anagha is a devotee of Ramakrishna Math, Vytilla, Kochi. She is the younger daughter of Mohankumar and Vijaya. Her elder sister, Amrutha, is a doctor. The entire family is very close to activities belonging to the nationalist forces. “Organiser” spoke to Anagha about the magnificent victories she gathered in her duffel bag. The question was straight – “How do you feel’? Pat came to her reply: “I am feeling blessed beyond my dreams”.
