Bihar’s YouTuber Manish Kashyap is once again at the centre of a controversy after the Bihar police filed a separate first information report (FIR) against him for interacting with the media while being in judicial custody suggested, a few media reports. The development occurred after the Son of Bihar famed Kashyap while appearing for a hearing in Patna High Court slammed the incumbent ruling Mahagathbandhan alliance and vowed to be back with all his might.

However, his interaction with the media did not go down well with the administration, who quickly stormed into action, and a complaint was filed against him for his conduct. Additionally, the Bihar police has also suspended a Sub Inspector (SI) along with three constables deputed with Kashyap during his hearing in the court.

Taking to Twitter, now known as X,  the Patna police posted a video of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Patna, Rajeev Mishra pertaining to the action taken against the policemen. In the video message Rajiv Mishra informed that “a video of the youtuber Manish Kashyap who is in judicial custody in Beur jail went viral while appearing before the court. In that video Kashyap was seen giving an interview to the media to which an investigation was initiated. During the investigation its been learnt that three constables along with a SI were deputed to carry Kashyap to the court.”

“In the video and the investigation further it has been found that the policemen deputed with Kashyap were not discharging their duties properly and a prisoner who is in judicial custody was allowed to give an interview. Also other people known to Kashyap were allowed to gather and walk with him. Considering this as a serious mistake in the security a SI along with three constables have been suspended”, added SSP Mishra.

It is to be noted that earlier Kashyap was brought to Patna High Court for a hearing on Friday, September 22 where Kashyap, while lashing out at the state government had said that they will try to break me but I will not be scared as I am the son of an army man not of a fodder scammer.

“My grandfather fought with the Chinese in 1962, while my father fought with the Pakistanis, when they were not scared fighting with the enemies then why should a citizen of the independent Bihar of Independent India should be scared, I am not going to be scared”, said Kashyap.

Further while expressing his anguish over his ill treatment, Kashyap had also alleged that ‘I have been quietly attending the hearings since six months but never uttered a word, however today they have troubled me, I have been put up with the druggist who smokes on my face, they have handcuffed an honest man but I promise that one day we will form the government and show how it runs, said Kashyap while showing his handcuffed hands.

‘Bihar police should arrest those who beat Bihari laborers and put them in Jail, but will Bihar police dare to? A bridge worth Rs 1700 crore collapsed where an engineer and a Yadav had died, another Yadav had died in Samastipur, a Yadav contractor was killed in Motihari, Tejaswi Yadav talks about caste, why he is not helping them. Look what M K Stalin’s son Udhyanidhi has said, why NSA has not been invoked against him’, said Kashyap

Earlier while meeting with his mother in the court premises an emotional Kashyap who was donning a t-shirt with a quote ” As an extinguished lamp cannot spread light similarly a coward cannot bring revolution” had said that “today my mother has tears in her eyes but when I will be out from custody I will wipe the tears of hundred thousands of mothers, I can ensure that I could die but will not scare.”

Who is Manish Kashyap

Manish Kashyap is a YouTuber from a small town of Bettiah in Bihar who has been at the center of controversies for allegedly obstructing a bank manager of Paras Pakadi branch of State Bank of India. Kashyap also rose to  limelight when he manhandled a BJP MLA Uma Shankar Tiwari in the 2020 state assembly elections.

The YouTuber from North Bihar has a significant following in Bihar for his unique style of reporting on issues pertaining to administration and development works, he is said to be a popular figure among a section of youths who despite of the alleged charges, rallied behind him and raised slogans in his support. Earlier a shutdown call was also given in support of Kashyap with a demand to lodge him in a prison in Bihar instead of Tamil Nadu.

Kashyap had surrendered before the police in the Parsa Pakdi case in which the court had ordered the police to attach his house on March 18. Subsequently Kashyap was also charged with spreading fake news related to alleged violence on people of Bihar in Tamil Nadu, following which he was apprehended by the Tamil Nadu police and was taken to Madurai.

He had been lodged in the Madurai jail till August and the Tamil Nadu state government has also invoked the National Security Act (NSA) on the youtuber for purportedly spreading fake videos of violence against Biharis in Tamil Nadu. Earlier the YouTuber had also moved to the supreme court for granting him relief by clubbing all 19 FIR against him while also challenging the invocation of NSA against him, however the Apex court had dismissed his plea.

Earlier the YouTuber was brought up to Bettiah by the police from Tamil Nadu to appear before two separate courts for hearing in August. He received a rousing welcome at the railway station where hundreds of supporters gathered to welcome him.

It was then reported that after producing him in the court the Tamil Nadu police then took him to Patna Beur jail where he was allowed to lodge for a night after initially refusing a stay by the authorities.

Later on, while granting relief to the youtuber, the Patna High Court ruled that the youtuber would stay in Bihar and would appear before the Tamil Nadu police via video conferencing if need arises. Citing the court order Kashyap’s lawyer Shivanand Bharti had said that the court ordered that he be kept at Beur Jail.
